From the police blotter:
From: someone
Date: Thursday, April 3, 2008
Violation: Indecency: Inappropriate Avatar Name
Region: —
Description: Inappropriate name.
Action taken: Warning issued.

So someone got warned for their name...
Doesn't this mean tomorrow will be the same thing?

"Hello, Nards. I see you haven't changed your name."

"Um, you don't give me the ability to do that."

"That's unfortunate. We shall have to warn you again."

How does this make sense?

I don't see a problem with "Nards" .. ( LL I can't speak for )..

If you obviously have an unreasonable name . ( a play on words or grammer ( mostl ikely when they picked it ) Then the warning reads .. try again or be banned.

Simple really.!.

Does this mean that 'Amazing Woody' is in trouble?

I understand .. If the last name is "You".. ( for instance )

said "warned" person choosed "Iwan************" ..

Maybe they don't wan't to ban a specdific IP ..

C'mon a warning is fair enough if they want to choose such a name.

Granted they can't change it as such ..

But the gotta be wanting trouble if they wait for a second "warning"

It was my understanding that this was one of the instances where LL would change a name for someone.

I would suppose if it's unintentional/Borderline .. or completely taking the biscuit .

Gaybot Foxley being a prime example. Poor sot became Feybot and then Robot... one instance was without Gaybot's knowledge, which made logging in a pain, if I recall.

I don't see how it makes sense.

Since you cant change your own name they would have to offer to change your name for you.

Its unreasonable for them to require you to get a new account, considering their own permissions system has no-transfer items set up

As well as billing plans that are not transferable.

----

However the Police blotter rarely contains all that was done ..

Its very possible they gave the Resident a warning and changed their name afterwards.

If this is the case, handing out warnings to people with unappropiate names then half of sl would be warned.

I recently downloaded a new game as lately I've been seeking a new game to play. In character creation in this game after you select your name it tells you, you won't get this name until they first check it out. You're then given one of several names they put aside then a day later you'll get the name you've selected if they deem it appropiate.

First of all... before i get worked up... is this a LL police blotter? As far as I know there are no LL police. The "police" in SL are a role play group that can very well be completely ignored.

But I could be wrong if you tell me there is a blotter on secondlife.com somewhere.

There are so many names in SL that are full of inuendo, if not blatent perversion... LOL. I'm sure no one cares.

It's the official LL blotter. You can reach it from the home page on the official site. All it really is is a list of disciplinary actions taken. It doesn't give specific names, but it's fun to read sometimes and it can give you an idea of the types of things that the Lindens think are important to crack down on at any given time. For example, when the adfarm thing came out, the entire list was adfarm warnings. When they banned gambling, it was gambling related stuff. usually it's sort of a motley assortment of griefers being warned for one thing or another.

I don't see what's wrong with "Gaybot" as a name. Who would be offended? Fundamentalist Religion bots?

Holy Crist - that's probably coming. Bots that travel around preaching for one religion or another. They just log on, go where people are sinning and start tryng to convert them. They could get in little holy wars with one another.
