Resetting Scripts

I recently purchased a table which came with notecard instructions to reset the scripts if the alignment of the "dishes" gets out of whack. Since I had to mess with it, they did. It is working OK now but I cannot seem to perform the script reset as described. The option on the pull down menu in SL is always greyed-out even when I have the object selected and edit mode open. How do you get this pulldown menu item active at all? I cannot seem to find the key to making it work.

try opening the script. you won't see the contents, but you will see the reset button.

Unless you have modify permission on the scripts, you can't reset them (or view them).

OK, no modify permissions on the script so that ends that. I'll try contacting the seller and see if there is another way. The table works, so I guess I am really just asking how to get "Reset Scripts in Selection" under the "Tools" menu to be available. I'll try sticking a modifiable script in one of my own creations and see if that does it. Thanks for the tips!

if you have allow droping you might be able to use the llResetOtherScript function in LSL.

As mentioned above, you can't reset a no-mod script. This was a change to LSL within the last year or so, so the instructions might have been correct originally. You should contact the seller and have them update the script and instructions so that there is a way for the owner to reset the script.

The change was to increase security for money-handling scripts or something like that.

However, if the item is modifiable, there may be a workaround. Drag the script out of the item into your inventory. If it's copiable, delete it from the object contents. Then drag it back into the object contents. This will reset it.
