Hello,

Since 2 days we have the problem that we send and receive chat/IM and commands double. We tried to reset and clear cache, but no solution yet. Anyone an idea?

This happens *all the time*? And in more than one sim? And "we" means more than one viewer?

It's very common for this to occur sporadically when a sim is seriously lagged. I can almost scheme up a scenario where it might happen if the client network connection were flaky. But to see it consistently, if that's what's happening, would probably be cause for a support ticket.

Yes, this happens for 2 days already, in several sims, laggy or not laggy at my home. On 2 different PC's but both working on the regular viewer, i didn't tried another viewer yet.

update:

I just installed the release candidateviewer 1.20.10 on my PC, and on my wife's PC the 1.19.4 viewer is running. We both have the problems in 2 different viewers.

try setting one of the machines to use a custom port:

Start SL but don't login. Go to Edit/Preferences and go to the Network tab. Check the box for "Custom Port Connection". (It will tell you you'll need to restart SL). First change the number to 13001. Quit SL. Restart SL and login. Try to chat with one another. Lemme know if that makes any difference.

I tried that customport 13001, but still see everything double.

to be complete,...it is not only IM, chat and commandclicks, also groupnotices, systemnotices and search results in double response. So when i search for a person, i see every name 2 times.

are you on a wireless connection?
That sometimes causes the double chat like you describe

no, i work on a home network with ethernet connection, on a draytek V2800 router. No wireless at all. We use SL already for 1,5 year, only the draytek router was new from last februari, so still working for some months with that also.

have you tried contacting the linden support for technical issues, maybe they can help (it also helps when you have an issue to post your operating system(s) information as well as what client(s) you use (some techies can tell at a glance if it is operating setup specific)

when's the last time the router and or broadband modem was turned off? Try power cycling everything. Shut down the computers, the router and your modem. Let it sit for a few minutes. Then start up the modem, router, computers and try again.

Somehow it just seems like every packet on your network is getting duplicated somehow  Are textures noticeably loading slower or object rezzing impacted?

vamp for some reason your post reminded me of this *sorry for the derail but me thinks everyone needs to see this once in awhile*

If a packet hits a pocket on a socket on a port,
And the bus is interrupted as a very last resort,
And the address of the memory makes your floppy disk abort,
Then the socket packet pocket has an error to report!

If your cursor finds a menu item followed by a dash,
And the double-clicking icon puts your window in the trash,
And your data is corrupted 'cause the index doesn't hash,
Then your situation's hopeless, and your system's gonna crash!

If the label on the cable on the table at your house,
Says the network is connected to the button on your mouse,
But your packets want to tunnel on another protocol,
That's repeatedly rejected by the printer down the hall,

And your screen is all distorted by the side effects of gauss
So your icons in the window are as wavy as a souse,
Then you may as well reboot and go out with a bang,
'Cause as sure as I'm a poet, the sucker's gonna hang!

When the copy of your floppy's getting sloppy on the disk,
And the microcode instructions cause unnecessary risc,
Then you have to flash your memory and you'll want to RAM your ROM.
Quickly turn off the computer and be sure to tell your mom!

after the reset SL is wroking, but i lost my connection with my VPN network. Tonight we will reset that also, to see if i can use VPN with SL again. Although i used that already for several months together, but i think i have to watch that connecion. Now sl is acting as normal on both systems without any problems. I keep you informed !!!!
