Hi- easy question for you guys- I think I did this once but can't remember what I did- my prim counter in my apartment is set at 181 prims and the apartment is empty. I was told to reset my SL cache and log in again. How do I reset it? Thanks for your help- I can always count on people here to be helpful to someone new.

Going from memory here but ....

Edit > Options
On the tab marked "Network"
Near the top is a slider for cache size and a button marked "Clear Cache"

Don't forget to log off after, then log back on.

I thought it was edit>Preferences, but for all I know they changed the name of the damned thing in one of the releases.

you can also find your SecondLife folder in

Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data

And delete it.

Something to keep in mind, a Second Life uninstall no longer removes this folder.

TO ensure your cache is really clean you can click on "start" right click "internet explorer">"internet properties">delete, then delete all temp internet files, cookies, and browser history.

Sometimes< I will even right click my internet connection icon and "repair" just to be sure :-) and will then still do the same in prefrences now "edit" on log in page and do a redundant clear there as well of network cache, cookies etc..

That cleans out your internet explorer cache, but not the Second Life Cache. It might be helpful when you deal with secondlife.com, but I don't think it has any effect on the SL viewer.

You do end up with a Mozillia folder though after running SL

in Documents and Settings\owner\application data\Mozilla

Also you get this ~NSU folder in the Documents and Settings\owner\Local Settings\Temp

I was just looking to see if it had affected the Mozilla folder I already had...

Am I wrong in assuming that my cache just clears itself? I simply set my cache size. Doesn't it just clear everything when it reaches it's maximum size (in SL)?

I don't think so. I believe it just stops saving information, so the client has to reload everything from scratch once you reach your max cache size.

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I don't believe it will clear on its own even so wouldn't trust it and would still do it manually, when in world for long periods and things start getting sticky will relog and clear the network cache in the process.
