chat log folders

The second life viewer creates folders with your avatar name, to store chat logs and some other files. I've noticed in the past that an empty folder was created when I mistyped the name of my avi, (and of course the password didn't match).

Is there any other way that the SL viewer creates those folders? A friend of mine found an empty folder with an unknown avatar name, and she insists that she never saw that name, and that nobody has access to her (Mac) computer. But we're both stunned at how this could happen.

Any clues?

The only way that I know of for those folders to ever be created is by someone attempting to log on to SL from that computer, with that specific account. That could mean some person sitting at your keyboard, OR some person remorely controlling your computer!

If you are fairly certain no one unknown to you has physical access to your computer and might have logged in with that unknown name, then I would IMMEDIATELY run antivirus and anti-spyware applications, to detect and eliminate a possible "back door" that someone may be using to remotely access your computer. And change ALL your passwords, including any login password for the computer itself.
