Hi all ... have a question that I am almost sure the answer is no, but figured I'd ask anyway.
Is there anyway to block hovertext from showing through the other side of a wall? i.e. You have a sign, sale box, whatever that has hover text .. but if the item is too close to the wall, when you are on the outside of the building you can see the text as well. Any sort of script or 'invisible' wall that I could put up to block this effect?
Thanks in advance!

You can't completely eliminate the bleed through, but can reduce the visible distance by moving the text to very small prims.
Very thick or doubled walls (plain old solid prims) can help hide things too, if you like the look of stuff against the wall and don't want to stand it in the middle of the space.

Nope. The only thing that cuts back on hovertext showing through a wall is to move it further from the wall. (Thicker walls work a bit, by moving the far side of the wall further from the hovertext.)

Thanks for the confirmation of what I expected. Walls are already solid prims (0.2 wide I think) and as for making the prim that shows the text smaller ... well they are Hippo vendors .. so not much possibility there.

Yeah, 0.2 won't hide much, when i mention thick i really do mean widely spaced.

heyas;
if the wall has any transparancy or any alpha textures, then text will show through.
supposedly... if there is no trans/alpha, it will block the hover text. then again a .02 wall might not, in any case.

I have no clue if this will work in your situation. I placed a picture close to a wall including window of my house. The picture would tend to show through the wall. The solution was to create an object the same size as the picture and place it between the picture and the wall. All three were very close to each other but the picture no longer showed through the outer wall, sort of like creating a double wall.

It helps if your hovertext has shorter lines.

Instead of putting the hovertext in the object itself, why not move it into a transparent prim farther away from the wall? Also as Viktoria mentioned, the smaller the prim, the less the hovertext will show!
