Hi. I am almost done creating a video player where someone can put their own videos in. The only problem is it only works for people who own land, which is understandable, but also group owned land doesn't work with it. Even the owner of the group won't be able to use it. I use group owned land, but can get it working by deeding the item to the group, although after that I can't edit it, so each time i want to, i have to re-rez a new one from my inventory. Anyways, I've had it tested, and it works fine in land where an individual owns the land and that said individual owns the player. But with group owned land, you have to deed it to the group, which no one can do but me. Someone told me that if you give Trans permissions to the object, then the next owner can deed it to the group, but even that hasn't worked. Is there a way for people in a group that owns the land to be able to use the player, and if ever possible, is it possible to have someone in land they don't own be able to use it, which i highly doubt is possible, as it changes the media url every time that you change movies. Thank you!

look up llSameGroup in the wiki. That might be what you're looking for.
also - try the scripting forum. You may get better ansewers there.

Thank you! Hey Mayo, The transfer issue may be that you need to set everything inside the object to allow transfer as well. I've just made a video tutorial player for my sandbox and it allows anyone to use it.... I'm no scripter but it works well. I can't however, think off the top of my head what I used (I don't remember using anything specific) to allow anyone to use, just remember ensuring no owner checks were included. I can only imagine yours would be based on the Parcel set of commands, so really can't offer you much help right now. I will take a look when I can log in to remind myself if I did use something specific. Sorry, as I said, I'm no scripter and it's only determination that gets me what I want, by the time I'm finished I've tried so much it's all a jumble lol ~B

Antenna

From: Old Mayo but can get it working by deeding the item to the group, although after that I can't edit it, so each time i want to, i have to re-rez a new one from my inventory. Try making the TV and an Antenna. Let them deed the Antenna to the group but not the TV. When the TV wants to change movie URL it sends the new URL to the deeded Antenna, which then sets the parcel media URL. That way your TV stays editable. Does that help? DG
