Mute blue popups?

Apparently there's an object near my home that causes a blue popup on my screen. Every five seconds.

So, I muted it.

The popups continued. I muted the owner. The popups continue. I muted the creator. And it's STILL happening.

Anyone know how to put a stop to this nonsense?

Hi, Paul. First find it - you may have to turn on View Transparencies to do that. Then, AR the owner of the object , giving its exact location. You may also wish to check whether you can move or delete it, which is unlikely but would be great. Then, notify whoever owns the parcel that it is on and ask them to return or delete it.

By the way, what text is in the popup? Interested in whether it's one of the old ones, or something new.

If it's your land you should be able to return the offending object to the owner once you find it.

It's a hipposecure unit that's presumably set with it's range too far. I can find it and look at it, but the owner isn't around.

It's not on my land, or I'd have done that a long time ago.

IM the owner or AR them. Sounds like someone wasn't paying attention to their settings.

Like Raudf said, they probably don't know their settings. I'd suggest an IM to the owner advising them that the Hipposecure is scanning beyond the limits of the parcel and let them know that there is a setting for it to ONLY scan the parcel it's on or group land it's deeded to. When dealing with neighbors it's always advisable to take the friendly *hey, did you know....* approach before screaming at them or threatening them with an AR.

Muting the creator won't help you.

In fairness to the owner, about 2 years ago a HipposSecure unit I owned drove me (and everyone else) nuts by spamming people in nearby parcels, no matter how it was configured. Turned out it was a bug with that particular version, which the creator fixed when it was brought to his attention.

Could be the bug has been re-introduced. Now that I understand rather more about scripting than did I at the time, I can see that it's a lot trickier than it might seem to confine the results of your scan to a particular parcel, at least on group-owned land.

Or, of course, it could be that the owner has messed up the settings.
