I have run into a very annoying problem resently. Sometimes (but not always) I cant click other avatars or some scripted objects. The avatars will just be unclickable, while objects will sometimes offer me notecards or mute/disregard options. I have checked my mutelist, I have reset the sim i live in (since it first happend here). Sometimes its good when I log in, sometimes not. I have logged in alts, and they have the same problem.
- Yes, I have tried with alts, they experience the same, yet other people dont - Yes, I have cleared cache - Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version - Yes, I am generally not an idiot, but I am stumped for thisone - No, I havent tried a different computer (I dont have access to another that can handle SL without a whole lot of pursuading to let me download)
Any other tips? Did I accidently turn on or of something in the menus?

Forgot to say, sometimes it works, just like it should. I am not able to pin-point what makes it work, sometimes it could be the reset of a sim, sometime; me clearing cache, sometimes, me turning of my computer.
I am happy to do all those things as long as it can work, but I am not sure whats working and whats not.

Aren't a number of things broken or intermittent lately? I have a hard time getting prims to behave all of a sudden. We've all been through that before. So maybe it isn't anything you have done. I can't say I have trouble poking at things though.

Some weird things been happening around here lately so I wouldnt get too worried - just adjust to it and after a while it'll sort itself out.

Ok this is weird. I uninstalled and reinstalled again, I could pay one game to start (a scrabble like game btw, so def within the limits of skill). Then full stop, no avatar profiles, no sitting on seats, no paying). But my AO works (but that script started when I logged in).
Any hints to this puzzle?

I was about to ask if it's anything to do with SVC-4196 ( http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-4196) since you mention a game not working, but if the whole viewer experience is hanging then I doubt it's that.

Thank you for the replies so far.
I have tried on 3 different viewers now, so I dont think its the viewer.
And I tried another mouse.
When I am logged in from a different computer, my avatar is normal.
I havent changed any settings on my computer, but its bound to be a problem connected to the computer since its working on other computers?
Any suggestions is appricated. I have also tried live chat and submitted a ticket.

That's not a bug. It's a feature. Actually, a side effect of a feature.
It's been going on for a while.

Installed any other software besides SL? You didn't change any settings, but an installer might have corrupted your mouse driver or some funky crap like that. If it was me I would try updating my drivers and run a registry scan. CCleaner is the only registry cleaner I'll let near my puter and its a freebie. Registry Cure is the most advertised one I see, but it borked my puter more than once.

I took your suggestion Rafe and tried CCleaner and it did find a few things AdAware and Spybot didnt, however, I am still stuck with the same problem in SL. I did the http://secondlife.com/support/systest.phpI passed on all recommended (and minimum) results were: From: someone CPU Recommended: Pentium 4/Athlon XP or better You Have: 2 processors running - Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.80GHz PASS CPU Speed Recommended: 1.5 GHz (XP), 2-GHz (Vista) 32-bit (x86) or better You Have: 2.79 GHz Performance Rated at 5.03 GHz PASS System RAM Recommended: 1 GB You Have: 2.0 GB PASS Operating System Recommended: Windows XP or Vista You Have: Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Build Service Pack 32600) PASS Video Card Recommended: With Windows XP [NVIDIA GeForce 6600 + / ATI Radeon X800+ ] With Vista [NVIDIA GeForce 7600+ / ATI Radeon 1600+ ] You Have: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE (GeForce 7300 LE) PASS Video Card Features - Minimum attributes of your Video Card Video RAM: Required - 128 MB , You have - 512 MB Video Card 3D Acceleration: Required - Yes , You have - Yes Video HW Transform & Lighting: Required - Yes , You have - Yes Vertex Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 3.0 Pixel Shader Ver.: Required - 2.0 , You have - 3.0 Video Card Driver Version (DirectX) Your driver version number is: 6.14.11.8618
Any other suggestions? Not being able to interact with other avatars and most objects is kind of taking the fun out of things. Add to that that my home sim is one of the few still down after the emergency maintainance ... There isnt much I can do.

Try opening the statistics bar and pay close attention to your packet loss. The stats bar is located under view at the top of the UI. You might be experiencing ISP issues.

Firewall interfering? Antivirus software interfering? (Kaspersky is sometimes a tad aggressive.) Have you checked/reset your modem/router? Are you on a wireless connection?
Sounds a lot to me like something is "snatching away" your interactions with the client.

Any hints to this puzzle? Sounds like your AV is messed up in the data base.. call or submit a non-suport ticket and let them know whats going on. At 1st they will say they can not reset your AV.. its not true they can.. have for me and a few others I know but it sounds like its not on your system but LL's

From: Tristin Mikazuki Sounds like your AV is messed up in the data base.. Obviously not, since she is okay on another system.
