hi
ive got a question^^
the land, where my house is on,is rented.
now i wanted to install a home security and tested 2 of them
the results are not as good,as i hoped

SecurityBot-Extreme:
suppose to tp the intruder home.doesnt work at all

LandProtector:
not all functions available, because its rented land, not owned.
the functions orbit and home-tp are deactivated.
what works,is the push.
the problem there (i had a test victim) it pushes u straight up in the air.
the victim landed after a while on the exact same spot.
bevor he knew, what just happened to him,it blew him back up^^

so is there a good system, which allows me to tp unwanted guests home, even if the land only rented?and where to get it?

thx for your help

With it being rented you are going to have difficult time finding a system to work. They have to be deeded to group to access permissions to perform their actions. Might want to check with your landlord for possibilites. or Check Spank SPecialties.. She has some that work with rented land I believe..

The security device needs to be owned by the land owner or it can't do that. Most rented land is group owned, so deeding it to the group is what you need to do.

Well personally I don't like TP home as it penalises innocent people who stray into your land, I find eject to be suffient after a decent warning, at least 30 seconds. The orb I use that works fine on group land is by Psyke Phaeton, check his profile for a link to his store.

I believe all scripted security devices have to be deeded to the appropriate land group in order to function correctly on rented parcels. If you don't have that ability in your group role, speak to your landlord.

I used to be able to foil most security devices just by sitting on the ground. That was before teleport home. I don't know how many peoples' property I graced with my rear end in the grass. Then there was the game of sit, run for fifteen seconds, sit some more, run some more until you reach the security owner's front porch. Then turn around and take a picture of self on front porch. Those days are gone forever. The owner is none the wiser for any of this. He/she was never home when I played this game.

No it just means that it can access the group land features. it should have an access card in it or some means off adding users.

Talk to your landlord about it. He/she might be able to help you get something set up too.

But...

I'm going to catch grief for this, but why do you need one? With the other tools available, the orb-tp-home has to be the rudest method I've seen.

And...I'd think twice before renting at a place that didn't give owner control over the rental.

All it needs is deeding to group. It'll get returned to you when you leave.

There are security systems that can detect if a person has entered your house. Also ones where you can establish the area of protection yourself. I suggest checking XStreet for the latest in security. I'm sure there are better systems.

I've designed my own, but I'm not going to advertise here. Just want to let you know that you shouldn't give up hope. ;)

The reason the security device doesn't work is because the owner of the device is not the same as the actual owner of the land - it has to match or the device cannot eject or ban intruders. If the owner of the land is your landlord, you would have to give the landlord the device and that's not going to work very well since the landlord would have to operate the security device for you. If the land is owned by a group (most rentals are), than you would give (deed) the object to the group and you would operate the security device as a member of the group. This assumes that the security device is transferable and most are. As far as sharing, most security devices allow you to set an administrator (yourself) to ensure that only specifically authorized persons can operate the device. If you do deed the security device to a group, ensure the range is set to cover only the area of your rented property as it will have the capability to function on all nearby group land even if it's not your specific plot.

I don't know how but a security device a friend was demonstrating to me ejected me from my own group owned land.. which was totally unexpected. How is that possible?

I would only ask that once you do get it working, please allow enough warning time for people to get oriented and leave, and allow for lag too.

Some of us like to take walks in Second Life. Trust me -- we don't necessarily want to spy on you or want to intrude on your private affairs. We just like to walk and explore and would like to be given the chance to leave your area without the orbit or TP assist.

Of course you can do whatever you want with your land, and if you have a problem with intruders, I can understand the cold reception. You will never see any security devices on any of my land, however.

A security system will not help you with that. Only keeping the item in your inventory when not working on it will solve that issue. Anyone can raise their draw distance and camera zoom right into your workshop from an entire sim away - a security orb will not stop that in the least.

I can target and eject anyone, including myself, with mine...they don't register land group owners any differently than anyone else.

The group is treated as its own entity, as if it were another avatar. It doesn't recognize owners.
