Has Svarga gone?

When I try to teleport to Svarga it says it cannot be found. It's still listed in place search though. Has it gone?

It would be very sad if it has gone, as it was one of the most beautiful and dreamy places in Second Life.

Pretty annoying. I wrote about it earlier:http://ninjaland.net/2009/02/25/svarga-is-saved/ but basically I'd contact Laukosargas about buying the sim and she said someone had bought it already and was planning on keeping it around.

It would be good if Linden Lab were to offer to buy and preserve a few of the most celebrated beautiful sims, should the owners wish to sell them.

It would be nice if there was a way for these places to make tier short of having to sell something (which is very difficult these days).

It is really tough - I'm in the same boat. I started the Botanical Gardens long before I had a business. The business covers the tier on the sim. There isn't any other way for someone to provide a public benefit in SL unless they have enough disposable income RL to want to front the cost.

In order to provide something to the public, you have to stay on top of generating revenue.

The system of preserving sims would be corrupted before it even began as Linden alt's or friends of Lindens who have relationships with some of these "beautiful sim" owners lobby for their own interests. Because of that, I cannot agree.

Just look at Showcases and before that it had another name where a couple popular Linden owned alt stores maintained long term listing - as if that was really an objective or non favoritism choice.

IF such a system like this were to be in place, I suggest they move these sims to the Beta Grid, or some external grid that you would pay to access but could teleport to from within SL - the same way they do the Main Grid to IBM Grid teleports.

It would be nice if everyone had their own offline environment. Content creators could opt to archive their creations into packs and make them available for download, and you could run their creation in your offline environment. Ten years from now you could load up your offline sandbox and load a memorable sim and reminisce.

Lol, the subject of SL preserving stuff always pops up when a good build disappears. Shame about Svarga though, really a shame.

hahahaha are you kidding? Too many content creators are so worried about you actually getting hold of their stuff that this could never happen. Sorry, nice idea though

a permission check box for the creator to open source their content would allow the liberation for content providers with no monetary interests (like myself) to permit their creations to go off grid.

Just select all your objects and choose "Allow Copy" or whatever it is called before you leave. Alternatively leave a box with a build-rezzer version at a freebie place again before you leave. Not very hard to do if as a content creator you do wish to.
Most content creators don't want seem to want their creations being "liberated" though, not for any reason and certainly not for going off to another grid.
This, other fora (or forums), the blog and the JIRA are full of threads and posts where content creators are wanting to lock things up far more than they want to liberate them. They tell everyone that this is how it must be and how it should be. They also say they represent the majority of the content creators interests and that the ones who don't think this way are in a minority or their stuff is not very good.

Oh I know how to make my stuff copy permed for SL. Hope was that LL would include an easy route to off grid transfers.

Ain't it th' truth, and in the current economic climate, it's harder and harder to do that. :-/

K, but like I say, LL won't otherwise they would have an army of content creators screaming blue murder over IP theft.

Maybe its time Lindens reduced tiers or upped land allowances all round ....

Also, I had always wondered how that sim survived. I had wondered if it was either a Linden sponsored sim, or was a lot of 512 grouped together or if early land was grandfathered in for free (didn't know how). Mystery solved.
