Hmm not sure. Good idea for them to get pics submitted in one of their outfits. However if it was a scam I would expect the prizes to be allot higher than 50K. But now you have announced it here in RA it should get allot more exposure especially with you claiming it could be a scam. How much did they pay you to create this thread :)

I suppose these outfits are expensive.I also wonder what the other 3 conditions are? Also over what sort of time frame are the running this deal?

Sound like its just a way to kick start their sales.

I declare IBTL!

I think you missed the forum you meant to post this is. You obviously meant to post this in Help Wanted, but you got Resident Answers instead.

Nope, not doing.

As far as I'm concerned...any modeling gig in SL is a scam.....lets face it. Avatars can be created on a whim to look gorgeous....I have at least 30 female avatars I've created over the last year or so that I use in photo series. And I get compliments on my work all the time.
All you need in SL to be a model is an ego and the right connections. It's not real....if your cheek bones aren't high enough, you change them.....you change your hair...your eyelashes....and buy the right poses...and presto your a model. ;) Seriously...it's the most ridiculous concept in a world made up primarily of beautiful people.

But beyond that...if something looks too good to be true, it probably is.

It looks like a little bit of a scam to me. Having to buy and wear one of their outfits in order to enter the contest. You never know if the person who wins is real or an alt. It also occured to me that 50.000 L$ is only L$50 in the US. That 50.000 would be written 50,000 here. Which leaves them an out to pay only L$50 and claim you misunderstood.

Errr....Arch, wrong math. At today's Lindex buy rate, first prize is worth about $140.00.

It is for sure the 2nd and 3rd place who get ripped off....they get coupons for store goods, not cash.

Alright, I'll play along, then and pretend this isn't an ad disguised as a question.

No, it's not a fix, if that is indeed what you are asking. It takes nothing to be a model in SL except attitude and most good models or people who wish to make it as models are either already with reputable agencies OR are working with established shops. My recommendation, however, is if you are a clothing designer/store looking for a model, create an alt. It's cheaper and the model is always available when you want it.

But if you are asking what needs to be fixed to make the ad look professional, I have loads of suggestions. The most important would be that if you aren't a native English speaker to find a friend who is and have them look over the ad. Or if you are, get a spell checker. I don't normally harp on spelling, but if you are promoting a business, you want to look professional. A few errors of spelling or grammar might be overlooked, but that one has more than a few. It won't attract the quality of model you want, unless you're going for the cheap.

You might also want to add more details to the ad. Many models are going to ask these questions anyways and having them in print will make misunderstandings a lot less likely to happen.

1. Do the models have to buy the designer's clothing or are they provided by the designer?

2. Is this a one time photo shoot or is it an on-going gig?

3. If it is an on-going gig, you might want to give a rough estimate of how often a model would be needed and set up for paying more, if the usage is more that what the 'prize' money is.

The rest should be negotiated with the winner(s) at the time. Sounds like a lot of work, huh?

It's definitely an advertising gimmick to drum up sales, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. As far as the contest is concerned, it depends on the store's reputation. I'm not familiar with it. Are they a new place, or an established business with a reputation and a following?

If it were me, I'd go and see what they sell, and if I saw something I liked that I might buy otherwise, I'd maybe go ahead and enter the contest. Nothing ventured nothing gained. But I wouldn't get too upset if I didn't win.

No more than any other advertisement. The majority of them are made to pander to mindless idiots. At least the RL ones.

i think it's a clever way to boost sales - short term.

I went, nice shop but definitely an innovative thinker :)

I don't get involved in contests like this tho, too easy to fix and yes, I think it is about selling a product.
