I have a shoulder length hair style that I really love but i have had to make it a little bigger than the size that it came in to look right. My problem is that now i can see through to my scalp sometimes depending on the lighting and it really bugs me. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?

You may need to move it around a bit as well as just rezising. Failing that make your head slighly smaller

Does the gap show when you're zoomed right in, or only from a distance? Sometimes it looks like theres a gap but there isn't, its just an effect of draw distance and avatar resolution.
If the gap shows when you're zoomed in then you can edit the hair (assuming that its copy/mod) MAKE A COPY FIRST - don't play around with the only one you've got. Then wear the hair, right-click and Edit it. Select the "Edit Linked Parts" box and select one strand of hair near to the gap, you can then change it's individual position or size to plug the gap. You might need to play around with two or three strands, depending how big the gap is.
If you make a mess of it all and it looks awful you can just delete it and go back to your saved copy.

The term "edit linked parts" always seemed a bit misleading to me - because the parts are already linked - you are editing individual prims within a group of linked parts without affecting the linked group. It's a great feature though. I used to have nice shoulder length hair but I hacked it all off for the summer

Amy I've been working on it and making my hard smaller isn't helping much, its like the stands of hair are so coarse you can see my scalp, although not super noticeable but still annoying. Carl the Gap is noticeable from close up and far away. I am going to keep working on it doing what you are saying with edit linked parts, its hard to get a hold of some of the strands though. I think SL needs to have a salon! From: Karl Herber Does the gap show when you're zoomed right in, or only from a distance? Yes i've been thinking about just looking for some nice shorter hair myself, this is going to start getting stale if everyone keeps seeing me wearing it all the time! I had an idea but couldn't find it after a quick search, what about a brown bald base, do you know of such a thing? You can probably make that yourself with a "nearly" bald base - just try 1's instead of 0's on the sliders... My short hair is just regular boy hair (ETD Jared I think from memory) looks fine on girls too though

I have the same problem when I wear my hair loose and I've noticed it with some other people too - in my case this only happens when I move the camera away to the distance. I styled my own hair from scratch and it includes varied flexi alpha sections as well as a non-flexi, non-alpha base. I fiddled about with the style. Making it bigger didn't solve the problem, even if I made it noticeably too big. So I set it back to the original size and I just put up with the threadbare effect. Most of the time I have my hair in a ponytail or bun but it's still bothersome having this problem with the loose hair. I also tried having a slicked-down 'system hair' underlay of the prim hair, but I couldn't make it lie flat enough to not protrude through the prim hair. Also this problem seems to come and go with different viewer updates - is that possible or just my imagination? What we need is an extra texture layer for the head, so we can paint a layer to go under hair in the same way that some skins have painted-on hair, except this would be independent of the skin. Given the choice between looking good from nearby and looking good from a disatnce, I chose the former!

That is what I was wondering about I haven't had a chance to try it myself today but using the system hair as an underlay seems like a good idea. I am wondering if this would work with my hair since its rather big and curly. And yes this problem happens for me from any distance but I guess it could be a little worse from far away. Its almost like you are seeing the color of the scalp flickering through the hair from a distance. Up close under close examination you can see definite spots where the scalp shows through from certain angles. I have never had this problem before, but this hair was purchased while using my current viewer in my case and haven't had a chance to compare it to older versions because I just started wearing this brand of hair. I am wanting to log in and check it out but haven't been able to all day. i'll let you know if i have any luck. From: Aria Takacs its hard to get a hold of some of the strands though Are you doing your adjustments on a pose stand? Having the av's head immobile simplifies things a bit.

I have noticed it a lot more since Havok 4, previous to that it was only happening on badly made hair, now i see may around with the problem my solution is to not buy scalp close hair but buy bigger hair as although the scalp Close hair is nice in some styles it isnt when you look like you have a bad case of alopecia.

You could always go back th the default size in your inventoy and shrink your head as well. Just an option.
