A few textures not rendering

Help please. :-)

In the last two or three days I've noticed a couple of textures on prim attachments not rendering properly in my viewer. One is the prim skirt part of a black dress I bought yesterday, and the other instance was some of the prims on a dark brown hairdo worn by my partner. He wondered why I was talking about blond and brown streaks!

Turns out other people are seeing the proper texture and colours, as evidenced in pix they show me, but in these two cases I'm seeing a pale streaky yellowish coloured texture instead - rather like the basic wooden prim colour. Not noticed other instances (as yet) if there are any, and it hasn't happened before.

I've cleared cache to no avail. Is anyone else having this happen or have I got some setting screwed up somehow? I'm running version 1.19.1 (4).

Have you tried using "rebake" texture? I don't necessarily know that it would help in the situation you describe (looks wrong to you, right to others), but it's one of those things that somtimes cures weird problems.

Sometimes it takes a little more than one time with clearing cache.
Also, you can try deleteing the cache manually.
In vista it is at:
C:\Users\<YourUserName>\AppData\Roaming\SecondLife\cache

XP is:
C:\Documnts and Settings\<YourUserName>\AppData\SecondLife\cache
i *think*

Also note that the AppData is a hidden folder.

The typical through wipe is to open SL and hit the clear cache button. Log out. Start SL again, but do not enter the world. Give it a minute or two to clear cache, then close SL. Go to the cache folder and elte anything still there. And finally, go back to SL and nter the world normally.

Good luck, Aeslyn. The next level after that is remove and reinstall SL.

Amity - I have tried rebaking several times but yep, I agree it often does cure problems.

Yosef - Ok I'll try the cache clearance as per your method when I get a chance to log in again.

Thanks. :)

Curiouser and curiouser...

OK I tried Yosef's patented cache clearance method and the only change is that the missing skirt texture is now not a pale yellow wood-like colour but just plain white. The edit box still shows the black colour it should be. Partner's hair still looks blond with dark bits. So I've now deleted the viewer and reinstalled the current version (1.19.1.4) and.... no change! The skirt part of the frock is still white instead of black.

Now I'm not bothered about one outfit being weird, but this does seem a very odd situation. If these are the only things that don't show up correctly then it's not a problem, but I was wondering - is it possible it's the server I'm being connected to that's got a few textures going astray? I'm in the UK btw.

This is weird. You could try rebaking again after you have cleare the cache but I doubt very much if that would do anything.

They are doing a rolling restart of all the servers to pach them up so if it is some strange server glitch this should help.

OH! DUH! The curent relese version has a bug with skirt textures. Most often they just don't show at all. You could try the newest release candidate viewer which fixes this bug.

http://release-candidate-secondlife-com.s3.amazonaws.com/Second_Life_1-20-9-88980_ReleaseCandidate_Setup.exe

And you can have both the release candidate and the current 1.19.1.4 version on your computer at the same time with no problem. Besides, the release candidate has beautiful water and skys. Miles better than the release version.
