Since there was 'server work' and restarts going on today I figured I'd upgrade to the newest client. Everything was find and dandy(seems not to use as much memory either, which is nice).
Till I got my first group message and what followed: [17:12] IM: Second Life: Sxxxxx Hxxxxxx has left this session.
I thought they got rid of this? Why is it back? Is it part of the new client or the new 'code' LL implemented today? It's really annoying to have to close group IM's over and over again.... grrr

It's really annoying to have to close group IM's over and over again.... grrr That normally means that a group im viewer has closed the chat window for that session... It used to work like that (sporadically), then stopped - but now after upgrading to the latest version today is now happening again, so it seems to be working better! I don't think it's a problem, I just think it's now working as it shoud (touch wood). Gomez

it's not the new viewer, it's the server rollbacks... it still occurs on the old browser and the nicholaz client as well... someone left out that patch...
incidentally it could explain why there are sporadic lag issues with group chat, especially in large groups... if the messages are still being sent, but ignored, the group shat server could hit serious slowdowns from processing then stripping those

As is typical of LL they unfixed a previous fix and now this annoyance is back. LL is in serious need of a good version control system.

Yes this is a REGRESSION. It needs to be RE-Fixed. And unfortuantely, in a NORMAL company regressions would be the first things fixed, but in LL land this means opening a new JIRA and beging for votes all over again.
Two steps forward... two steps back.

Glad I'm not the only one who noticed this, I thought it was me. Seems the group IM bug is baaaaaack. I am soooo hoping that it's going to be fixed soon. I'm a member of several groups with active IMers and spent rather too much of my time last night trying to get rid of the IM window.
/me goes to check whether the Jira issue has been reopened yet

Update and bump because I hope they´ll fix this thing again very soon .......... There's three jira issues on it, two in the viewer section and one in the server section. Since this isn´t viewer related, I´d say check this one out: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-929

My soul absolutely rebels at the thought of having to go vote in JIRA to get this sort of re-bugging attended to.
"...has left this session.." was a complete pain in the butt. It was fixed, presumably because LL accepted that it was a serious enough issue.
Now, due to the pure incompetence in LL's "software engineering" process, the thing is back. Goodness knows what other bugs have been reintroduced. It seems to be a lottery. Will we really have to re-JIRA and re-vote on them as they get rediscovered????
I think that using JIRA for this just lets LL off the hook. It normalises the incompetence.
The issue here is not simply the re-introduction of a particular bug. The issue is a lack of proper version control by LL. I'd say that "blue murder" and Open Letter are more appropriate than JIRA for this.

This is a server-side bug; it appears regardless of which client you use. Best therefore to vote for the server-side bug rather than the viewer ones: http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/SVC-929

Unfortunately blue murder and an open letter are less likely to get it fixed soon than voting and commenting on the jira. True, this should never have re-appeared in the first place, but for it to be fixed again soon, the jira seems the most obvious route, since the monkeys actually read the thing on a daily basis. ETA: that was my thinking too Nika. I´ll take the other two links out of my earlier post actually. Just my 2c, IMHO, YMMV etc.
