I woke up this morning richer than when I went to bed, so I checked my transactions and I received a $1250 Linden Grant. Can someone tell me what this is?

I think it's either a premium bonus or referral bonus - which can sometimes take months to appear.

My stipend is $300/wk and I get that each Tuesday I think. The only thing I can think of is maybe they're taking pity on me for losing some outfits out of my vendors that customers paid for and never received, so I had to pay them back AND I lost the outfits. They can't resolve it.

Looks like the amount of Lindens you're promised when signing up as premium. You're in a minority to actually get it, though.

I got a signup referral bonus of L$500 not long ago... for someone who's account has been closed a good while. Their account got closed because they got hired a Linden.
So maybe some process in the accounting system is finally getting around to completing some unprocessed transactions, like my referral bonus and HoneyBear's signup payment, or perhaps some old transactions that actually did get processed already are mistakenly getting processed again.

You might not want to if everyone knows who you are.

Blot, you are getting $400 Stipend because that's what it was paying when you signed up. It has now gone down to $300.

I believe some early adopters still get a $500 stipend.

Actually, some real early adopters get 4096 sq. meters tier free for life, and I think their stipend is higher too. Sometimes I want to claw my eyes out at not having heard about SL till Sept. '06. If I had come in even 6 months earlier, I'd be twice as well off as I am now. From: Ciaran Laval I believe some early adopters still get a $500 stipend.

If I had come in even 6 months earlier, I'd be twice as well off as I am now. the 4096sqm/higher stipend was available as a Lifetime Account and it cost a couple hundred dollars. it was available in 2003.. i think until October or something. i joined in Jan of 2004. thankfully i never clawed my eyes out, but ouch.. as far as the L$1250 grant goes, it sounds like a Premium Bonus. at least it matches up (sort of) with the bonuses listed in the membership plans page. it looks like a combination of the Basic and Premium bonuses, which sounds a bit odd. either way.. yay for everyone who has been getting them!

L$1250 is probably a Premium bonus.
Your stipend is determined by when you started your Premium membership. If you started pre-2006, your stipend is L$500. Around the middle of 2006, they changed to L$400 for a few months, and then down to L$300. (This was to bring the L$ value of a Premium membership in line with the LindeX standard exchange rate.)
Lifetime memberships were only available in 2003(?) for US$200. They provide 4096sqm of tier and a L$500 stipend for life with no further payments. It's worth remembering though that at the time they were offered, the rules were different - tier fees hadn't been introduced yet, but you HAD to be a Premium member to log into Second Life AT ALL. In other words, nobody actually knew they would be getting 4096sqm of tier free when they bought a Lifetime Membership.

Odd, I never knew about the bonus, and never got my 250L for singing up.. I remember having to dancecamp my arse off for a week to earn my first 8L, that all went to tip my first fave DJ. From the rules on the memberships page, it also seems that I won't be eligible for the 1000L bonus for premium, since I already have a basic account.. doublescrewed

From: Davin Romano Odd, I never knew about the bonus, and never got my 250L for singing up.. That applied only to basic accounts in 2005 and early 2006. Even if you created a Basic account (ie, didn't pay anything), you'd get L$250 to start with and L$50 per week. The catch was that you absolutely HAD to provide payment info, if you didn't, you couldn't complete account creation. When the Lindens allowed accounts to be created without payment verification of the payments to Basic members of course had to be removed, to prevent people from just creating more and more accounts until they had all the L$ they wanted.

I wonder then why they don't update their website.. they must be busy fixing all the server issues of late.

From: Aeval Okelly does that mean if you're hired you can't keep your recreational account? No it doesn't. Lindens can keep their pre-Linden accounts.
