Help finding a modern or art deco railing texture?

Anyone know where I can buy textures of modern or deco-styled balcony & stair railings? Baroque iron ones are are all over the place, practically lying on the ground to pick up for free. But I can't find one single modern one!!

I also don't want to buy a prim with the railing texture on it, particularly if it's no-copy (not sure who would buy those, exactly). However, I can't even find one of those in a modern style.

Thanks to anyone who can tell me where they've found some of these. If I get really desperate, I'm going to offer a reward.

LOL The few times I have been out looking for textures and become frustrated....I resorted to finding my own images on the web and saving them to later crop and use as textures. You might want to give that a try....if you know exactly what you'd like....search the web and look at images....chances are you'll find something that you can save to your hard drive and create a texture from.
I can't recall ever seeing what you're describing..... the other thing you may want to do is get in touch with individual home builders in-world and see if they can offer some advice or good sources for textures. You may even find someone who has what you'd like, and offers it to you for a fair price. Good luck.

Hey Milla,

Thanks -- weird thing is, I see these all the time in other people's builds, but never see them for sale. I don't believe that all the builders made them themselves. I do sometimes do what you say with the web images -- but I'd really like to have a good texture artist's expertise on this one.

And price isn't so much an object, which is why I find it hard to believe that no one sells them! My "no-copy" comment isn't because I don't want to pay for them, it's because I simply can't use them in that state.

Thanks for the advice! I'll keep looking...

Shouldn't be too dificult to make for yourself if you know how to use Photoshop.

Make the railings and texture them silver shiny, red or whatever you want, all in-world, then put them right up against a plain white background. Snapshot the railings absolutely face-on so there is no distortion. Open the snapshot in Photoshop and use the wizardry to select the railings away from the white background and make into a 32 bit Targa file using the method outlined in the tips in the textures thread of this forum. That should give you a texture with your Art Deco railings and a transparent background for application to a prim.

Of course you could always buy my sculpted rails :V Uses the same amount of prims as textured stuff, but looks better because it is 3D. They also have a simplified, blocky look that can be textured however you wish. Also we have SL's best sculpted stairs.

Aminom -- your stairs are amazing -- I bought that set a while ago and I'm already using them in my new hotel. Those rails are great, too, but what I really need are steel / glass ones, or ones with metal cables, for this project.

Cristalle -- I searched all through that store and never saw any rails -- great store though! Maybe if I catch you in world, I could have you point them out? maybe I'm missing them.

Conifer -- Thanks, I may have to resort to doing them myself, but honestly it's just a little beyond me without investing a ton of time, and texturing just isn't my thing. But I'll follow your steps if it comes to that!

Go to the teleporter and pick fences. You will find all the railings there.

Cristalle, PERFECT!

At first I was like, "teleporter, WTF?" For some reason they have a tiny 2-room store that comes up first in search, with no apparent mention of the "real" store. I went to the main store and they had MANY types of railings.

Thanks!

TRU says they are in the process of making an actual CATALOG for the store.
