I know this is the world's most misleading name for a thread, but either the recovery hit the North Pole with a bang and Christmas came early to my house or the kohain in the newly restored Second Temple found the secret oil tank in the basement (Happy Hanukkah y'all!). Either way, I am now in a position to rent from 2000 -- 5000 square meters of land for one year.

I went out shopping last night (No rush. It was just land window shopping) and felt very disappointed. There were covenants that restricted to theme (We want nice houses here! I'm not the "nice house" type.), use (residential or commercial but not both. Hasn't any one seen a mixed use neighborhood in the real world or heard of lving above or behind a smallish store), and theme (Only plants that match our landscaping please!). I guess there are people with whom such things are popular, but htey are not me.

What I need is land suited for mixed use (The term a lot of covenants use is "residential plus light commercial", but I think mixed is better) with a covenant that allows an experimental build. I don't use laggy scripts so no worry there, but I do get out the paint bucket and I probably will put up at least one mural on a wall or mosaic on a surface. I like round roofs and curves, and I might make some blue trees.

I'd prefer temperate climate (More fun for making plants) but could care less about landscaping. I'd prefer to be on a road (for reasons of walkability). I don't mind being next to clubs, high rises, malls.

And yes, I am looking at more mainland as an option, but renting from a private landlord is cheaper and it means I don't have to give up my existing 512 which I may have to move back to when the year is done.

Do you know any one who is dependable who rents this sort of land? My experience with Sorry Excuse has taught me that one's landlord can be one set of car repairs or medical bills away from absconding.

Second, are there any guidelines for renting on a sim whose previous tennants or owner have gone through hard times but who are still there? How do I know if someone is stable?

Renting land is an act of trust.
