Actually I wouldn't mind seeing people's examples of their favorite RP sims, regardless of genre, Sex/No Sex focus, combat/non combat, etc.

If you want, you can even say, "Well I wouldn't know, but my 'friend's' favorite forced roleplay sim is The Crack Den." ^_^

maybe i'm jsut biased, but the sim i roleplay on is, in my opinion, a very good one.

the City of Hydra is a Roman themed sim (a roman outpost in the mediterranian, and whilst we're a small group (with many alts, for the chance of trying different roles), we still do pretty well, though getting some rp in, can be hit and miss at times (it's understood that people have lives outside the sim, and most of us are european)

also, it's non-combat, unless there is a raid, or a gladiator battle. we are a friendly group, and on top of that, we really love getting good rp-ers. and even if you've never rped before, people are always willing to help others. on top of that, HOW you rp isn't an issue. everyone in the group has their own style...some do the long paragraphs, some do only short emotes. noone minds, as long as it's relevant!

and, we tend to be a bit like a family as well, in that we all get along well out of character (even if we don't, in character...heh)

(this is NOT a premade advert for the sim...but it is kinda shameless promotion...i will admit that, but hey...how else do others learn of such things?...feel free to ignore it, if it doesnt interest you)

oh, and unfortunatly...i've not actually rp'd anywhere else...hydra is where i started rping...and it's where my heart is, in sl...

I have been to several that I have enjoyed. Two I have spent long stints of time and energy in. One was a nice relaxing stop in now and then.

I spent several years in Hogwarts RP. It is not my current RP but is still available. It's current title is Hogwarts United. The roles there are all Harry Potter type roles. No canon character. It runs after the books it is based on. So roles like Professors, students, members of the magical community at large.

I spent some time off and on in Midsummer. It is a medieval RP loosly based on the Romeo and Juliet mythos. It is expanded to include such roles as towns people, elves, magic users.

My current favorite is Nevaria. It is a dark Alice in Wonderland based RP. It has several intersting races: humans, fae, Umbra (dark elves), Elves, Sungura (a rabbit animorph race), Meece (a mouse animorp race), Lamia ( a snake animorph race), Cecelia (a water race). It also has a unique way of incorportating the canon characters.

For anyone who wants to RP, there is a ton out there. It ranges from simple places where a bit of freeform RP is encouraged to full IC (in character RP). Just keep looking until you find a level the suits you.

I always have such high hopes for role play and to be in an exciting world but it never seems to ork out that way for me.
I am also often subjugated to a minor role coz there's always about four or five men and two females who have got all the say in teh game and ignore me.
It gets irrittating to be so unwelcome so the game kinda just peters out for me.
I'd appreciate a few role play ideas from forumites here.
I dont want PG role plays but something tasty and NOT crude or too much bmsd. Kinky but in a washing line kinda way.

Sharindlar/Tol Daennon

Medieval RP. Very much into Spellfire combat, but not required. The rp is not obsessive. Lots of ooc. Most battles are against invading monsters and demons.

Wonderful teachers, as good as I have ever found, in-world or out, and I am kind of a career student.

Dialog can be a coarse at times - frontier atmosphere - and women's costumes are often "Boris Vallejo lite," (smiles), but not a sex-oriented sim.

(We seem to spell Tol Daennon about 8 different ways. Tol Daeannon, TolDaennon, etc. It's the Middle Ages, after all. Consistent spelling not required. )

Thank you, thank you! I stumbled on this sim long ago and then couldn't find it again. I wanted to go back and explore. Visually it was stunning, and what I remember reading about the races was very interesting. XD

Bloodlines is a fantastic role play sim for vampires. *trollface*

No not really, but it looks nice.

I suggest Necronom VI, its a awesome futuristic sci-fi spaceship sim with some dedicated players.

Eternity (Midieval/fantasy based role play)

18 sims. Extremely active. DCS combat system which is required to role play. Jousting tournies, sword tournies, four archery ranges as well as archery tournies. Canoe races... a tavern that is completely IC except for modern music which opens every night at 6pm. Festivals once a month. Formal balls at the castle a lot. King and Queen (Sim Owners) are extremely active and wander about with the locals on a regular basis.

There are several Battlestar Galactica RP sims out there.

I am most active in BSG 21.

Sci-fi. Military and civilian characters. Combat and RP.
