I'm a little confused about LindeX trading limits and I have a few questions.
1. I understand Buy L$ and Sell L$, but what exactly is the Purchase limit? 2. What are Levels? For example, under Resident Monthly Limits it has 0 to 1 days, 2 to 7 days, and 8 to 27 days, and then it has Level 1 and Level 2. What do those mean? 3. In addition to Resident limits, it also has business owner, enterprise, and currency trader limits. What do those mean? Is there some way you go from being just a resident to being a "business owner"?

1) Purchase limit, is for when you just give them money for something, i.e. buying an island. If the limit is $5000 then you can't buy more than 5 islands that month, for example.
2) The levels are just a way of refering to what your individual limits are. When you first sign up, it's very limited, then after a few days you can do a little more, then after a month you are at the full normal resident level. I don't know why the difference between level 1 and level 2 though.
3) Business owners have different requirements in terms of currency trading - mainly odds are they are selling L$ much more than buying L$ so the limits are adjusted accordingly. Enterprise is for really big users, like corporations I imagine. Currency trader is for someone who is operating a currency market like the Lindex -- SLX for example, has a currency exchange.
To change your limits, you have to submit a support ticket, explaining what limit you want to change to and why. Then after some unknown amount of time, you may or may not get your limit changed, depending on factors that are unknown.

Ok, just a couple more questions.
1. The monthly buy limit for 0-1 day residents is $10. And the monthly buy limit for 2-7 day residents is $100. How does that work? If I buy $10 worth of Lindens on my first day, does my limit go up on my second day? Does it go up to $100? Does it go up to $90? ($100-$10)
2. If my buy limit is $10, does that mean I can buy $10 worth of Lindens, or $9.70? (Which adds up to $10 with the $0.30 trading fee.)

Just a quick note, as this is something that really confuses a lot of folks:
In your "My Account" page, click "Linden Dollar Exchange Settings", and then pick the Advanced option. New users default to Basic mode and don't have as many buying/selling options- and a lot of the FAQs on Lindex won't make sense unless you're in Advanced mode.

Don't know the answer to this one but I think if you spend enough time thinking about it, it'll be tomorrow and it won't matter any more.

Oh and as for changing your limits. The general rule seems to be that if you use up at least half of your existing limit then they will accept your request to be bumped up one level whether to business or currency trader or whatever you want regardless of what you actually do in SL. Sometimes they insist you use up half your limit two months running. They're usually quite slow (several weeks to respond to a ticket), but very reasonable about it.

$9.70. I know because it happened to me. Also, even though I've been here three days, my limit has NOT going up to $100. It keeps telling me my monthly limit is $10, and I've spent my $10. Any ideas on why that is?

All about limits

The number of days is counted from when you made your first money transaction using real dollars, not from when your account is created.
The limits are a rolling 30 day limit. That means you cant exceed the level of transactions shown over the last 30 days. For a new account on the lower limits, all your previous transactions count.
The purchase limit is how much you can spend on the following things, all of which involve paying Linden Labs real money from outside:
* Increase credit (adding funds to your US dollar balance from a credit card or Paypal) * Buy Islands * Buy auction land paid for in dollars * Pay land maintenance fees (called tier) which are not covered by an existing US dollar balance
The buy and sell L$ limits are limits on how much you can trade real dollars for L$ on the Lindex exchange.
-------------------------------
Most players eventually graduate to Resident 1 level once they hit 28 days, and never go past that. If you are a very active player, and you are getting "close" to a limit, you can request to be moved to a category with a higher limit. From brutal experience, "close" is not very well defined. At one time, getting a review to move to a new category was painful and slow. Recently they have done much better.
-------------------------------
In addition to the stated limits, there are hidden limits on how much you can do before their fraud detection software is triggered. If those limits are exceeded, your accounts will be frozen (you cant log in or move money) while they investigate, with no warning.
Since game money is convertible to real money, its possible in theory to buy a lot of game money with a stolen credit card, transfer it another account, then cash it out to Paypal. The new player limits and fraud detection are intended to prevent that.
So, if you try to move an "unusually large amount" between accounts, or try to cash out too much, you might get caught. And those triggers are intentionally not published. If they were, thieves would know to stay just under them.
