Trouble with Textures

I posted this on the building tips/help section, but I need all the help I can get so thought I'd post here too. I've got a problem with my textures and can't seem to find anyone who knows what's going on. I'm fairly new to building and have just been putzing around trying to get the hang of sizing and applying textures. A few days ago, I was playing around with the texture box in edit, just seeing what the flip boxes were about, and changing numbers in the repeat boxes to see how it affected the textures. I'm not sure what I did, but ever since then whenever I try applying a texture it goes on multiple times....like tiles almost. The flip boxes are both checked and the numbers in the repeat boxes vary from 4 - 20. It doesn't matter how many times I uncheck those dang flip boxes, or how many times I change those numbers...the next time I apply a texture it's the same thing. I've had two friends who are experienced builders try to help and neither one can figure it out. I've done a reinstall and still the same thing. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks :)

I can do that Mjolnir, but it's a hassle to have to do that every time I want to texture something. Every time I put a texture on something I have to "fix" it.

Turn off "planar mapping", sounds like you hit that by mistake.

Remember about it though, it's great for texturing certain types of prims.

Was it really necessary to post this in three different forums? Come on. If you're not sure where something should go, pick one (and ONLY one) forum, and leave it it that. Don't just repeat it endlessly until you stumble across the right place.

If everyone were to do this sort of multiple cross-posting, as you did, the forums would become unusable very, very quickly. Please keep topics in appropriate forums, for all our sakes. Categories exist for good reason.

So you know, since this is a texturing question, it belongs Texturing Tips. I'll give you my answer to your actual question there, not here.

I'll second this answer. Planar Mapping is great sometimes but not all the time. Also, make sure you have "stretch texture" marked if you are stretching the size of your prim.
