Hi,
I've been searching for an actual script that a lot of resorts have that rezzes a boat for folks and they can use for the entire duration they are on the boat. Then when they get off it, it disappears after a certain time.
So far, all I've found are products that rez a boat, but I don't see any permissions that would allow me to change the boat that is rezzed. I'd like my own boat to be rezzed and ridden.
Could anyone please guide me to where the script itself is? Or a store that sells a full perm kit of sorts that would allow me to place my own crafted boats?
If anyone knows, feel free to IM me in world as well since I don't check back here often.
Thanks.

nudges Lash to post in the scripting forum.
You'd probably have better luck getting your answer there.

If you knew how to script on your own this would be pretty easy. Basically just make a deal that starts a timer once it's object is rezzed and make it "die" after that timer's done. That would go into the boat itself and go away regardless of if anyone is on it. Doesn't make for a very pleasant cruise! Otherwise just make the boat "temporary". It'll be around until the time's up if they don't get on it and it'll be there until they get up off of it if they sit on the boat for an extended period of time (i.e. longer than the time it takes for temporary objects to go away). That would be the low-budget solution...and low scripting which equals that much less lag!

99% chance it's a temp on rez thing. I'm sure Barney Boomslang could whip something up for you (if he has the time) along these lines, say I sent ya. Ordinal too but Ordinal's usually busier than ants at a picnic.

temp on rez or timered, either is easy.... temp on rez will last as long as the av is on it , timered you could force to die a set time after the av gets up, either is pretty easy to code. like 5 mins...

I have a bunnyball rezzer I wrote up sometime back; it uses 2 prims (one to click on, and another one to rez from - so you have some flexibility in positioning). I'll toss a full perms copy at you in world.

Just to be contrarian, it's an easy script, unless:
There are multiple kinds of boats that need to be rezzed at slightly different positions or rotations, and new kinds of boats have to be added readily by the end-user (for which the difficulty of the script is some exponential function of just how "readily" that needs to be), or
The boats have to be rezzed more than 10m from where the rezzer is located. (That's pretty easy, too, but it requires that the boats have a little script in them when rezzed--preferably one that can execute while they're still non-physical.)
And I agree: there'd have to be an awfully good reason to not make this a simple temp-on-rez thing; seems like a perfect fit.

Looking at the scripts I already have at hand, doing a multi-rez would be pretty straightforward and not a geometric function. What you're looking at is a texture cycler core - just drop in a picture of each boat and a button to press to retrieve the boat. Rezzer's can be anywhere in the sim - use llRegionSay and hide an alpha phantom prim with the appropriate rez function and an inventory object to pull out, and you're set. Now that I think of it, this would be a pretty cool way to choreograph special effects like explosions or fireworks, too - instead of boats rez particle emitters.
Hmmm...got me thinking now.

At Rizal/24/205/22 is a full perm copy of Boat Blast that does exactly what you want. It was made by Lee Linden.
If you can script or know someone who does, you can mod this to use any boat (or any object) that you want. The boat you replace the bumper boat with you have to mod the control script to allow for any drivers and not just owner. You can pick up a copy and see how it's done.
