Hi! (sorry if this is in the wrong place here, but I'm in desperate need of answers!)

I'm having a hard time running Second Life.. which is extremely odd! I have a decent computer that runs WoW and multiple programs in the background without problems... I even have 76% space left on it after all the fancy mmo's I download onto it! (I'm kinda addicted to MMOs.. but that's for a different kind of help topic rofl)

My problem is this.. I can (sometimes) log into Second Life, walk around all of five seconds, or maybe teleport out of an area.. then BOOM! My ENTIRE computer locks up and I have to reboot. It's kinda upsetting because I just got back into the game really and I'd like to enjoy it more.

I thought at first maybe the problem was I had too many things running in the background.. So I turned them ALL off. That didn't work.. I ended up having to reboot a couple seconds later.

I then thought the problem might be that somehow one of my second life files got corrupted. Ok.. so I uninstalled Second Life, deleted the old copies off of my computer and did a complete fresh install. I 'logged' into second life and didn't make it past the loading screen..

I then thought it was my drivers.. so I immediately went to check them all out.. and everything for the most part is updated. In a fit of despair, I even ran a virus scan to try and figure out what was going on.. Nothing (thankfully) turned up.

So.. what is my problem? I don't understand what is going on. I played it just fine all day yesterday but now it seems there is some vast issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

what kind of system do you have?

From: someone

Intel Duo Core2 e7400@2.80ghz
2gigs of kingston ram
80 gig hard drive
Nvidia 8800 GTS 640mb Video card
450Watt power supply with 34 amps combined on the 12 volt rails (important for video cards to have higher amperage)

Running winXP 32bit sp3

SL I have set on ultra and experience no lag.

my current system ^

I just posted that not less then 10 second ago lol

Second life requires some power to actually run decent like you are describing.

If the whole computer is locking up, the first thing I would do is run a surface scan on your hard drive, then run a memory diagnostic to make sure neither of those is defective.

Ok lets see if this helps a little, I'm not too sure where to get my system specs from but this is what I could find:

Intel[R] Core[TM] 2 Quad CPU
2.39 GHz 3.25GB of RAM
Windows XP

I don't know how to find out what my video card is, but it is a NVIDIA.
