Would filing some ARs about Linden Lab's email spam have any effect?

Just got that email too... It's a strange one alright.. I really don't think that LL should be advertising other products or giving preferential treatment etc etc.. There are a whole bunch of residents who are very talented designers (and by the way, I'm NOT including myself in that
)...who can match and overtake the so-called 'top 10'... As another poster in that link you provided stated...where were the invitations to take part in this 'extravanganza'...Ooooohhh..methinks I feel a new world order coming on... ![]() |

Actually I'm really split on this one.
I mean, I think it's cool that LL would do something that would go out the the entire community to get them involved in an event. But com'on people, commercial flogging for a particular resident's financial gain. Oh that just screams anti-trust (I think, my law education comes from the movies.. ).Why didn't you spam about Burning Life or some arty open to everyone to show their creativity event rather than one business. Please LL please, for the love whatever avatar diety there may be, showcase COMMUNITY events not one business. Patasha _____________________

The slap counter moves through the ceiling

Wonderful [sarcasm]. Let me think: I got a mass e-mail about something last week. I got this mass e-mail today. I expect more mass e-mails in future. (If SL has a future in this way... I doubt!). But none of 16 Million accounts (active or not) got a mass-mail about major changes which are affecting social, economical, intellectual, emotional, freedom *aspects* and the whole former meaning and kind of "philosophy" of SL.
My partner and I are creating clothes and attachments and interior, etc. since nearly 2 years under our own brand. Based on constantly increasing quality, skills, excellent and friendly/helping customer service, hard work, 100% fair comeptition, no tricks (means all is unique and made from the scratch with love and passion) and what is now this? LL has chosen arbitrarily one of x-hundred fashion shows and it's few participating designers. These are sure the kind of so called top ten *or* however arbitrarily chosen ones, because we heard *nothing* about the event in front. LL promotes additional arbitrarily a single TV builder/scripter. And since the event will start today at 8 PM european time I think, they sended today a mass e-mail to *all* residents with an invitation to attend this event. So, what is the number in evening? 60 000/70 000 people online. If they all would like to come I will wonder which sim can hold 60 000 green points... But LL is thoughtful... They know that max. 100 can see that "live" at location. So they were "smart" and promoted one single TV designer too..., where the mass can buy now a TV to watch the event from elsewhere/or their ingame "home", etc. This "resident" will be rich today, hahaha (damn)And they're promoting a few (I think: 4) other sims, from where the show can be watched. This is the biggest slap ever right into the face of *aaaaaall* other designers, developers, creators and sellers of clothing/fashion/attachments/TV-tools which are working hard for the fun and some small L$ in this very competetive field of creations. If they hope we (means partner and I) are sitting in the audience applauding the event, the chosen competitors, the show in general, then this will stay a hope, because we won't. Everyone can do nice self-promoting fashion shows and everyone can do such shows together with designers of choice and this is how it works and have to be. But it cannot be the case, that LL does hand-picking one specific show, the attached designers and promoting it on all avalailable channels and with mass-mailing and as I see know while a test login, they do it now also as a MOTD... This is pure spam and it kills fair competition and it demotivates all other passionate designers of whatever. What LL can do is promoting their own events (Burning Man and such), major changes on the SL concept and whatever they like, but not manipulating the direction of creativity and market. Which means: in this case they can sniff *at my crotch* like they could it while the Open Sim and Adult Content Project desaster too. *If* LL wants to play Second Life instead of only driving the tech platform, then they can do that *alone* would be my suggestion, because they obvisouly think that they don't need us and can be happy with their few hand-picked folks. LL's hubris goes way too far! Lately we're getting our slaps daily, it seems. You cannot open your e-mail account or login in peace, or open the LL website, or checking your xstreet account without a slap left and right and an uppercut additional. I think they hate us (or are they *only* stupid?!) Such behavior is not good for the arbitrarily promoted sites because it causes angry blood and only this and not a single moment of sympathy, nor is it good for the non-promoted sites. It is just one thing: *wrong!* |

There's one improvement in this mail-out.
They give you the option of opting out to *promotional mail* from Linden Lab. On at least one previous junk mail they've sent (I hesitate to call it spam, since we all DO have an ongoing relationship with the company) they only gave you the option of opting out from mail from LL, period. Which seemed a bit ominous. _____________________

So.... did they send an e-mail to all their customers? (I got it too.)
I don't know how more than ~60 people are going to fit... That seems about the upper limit lately on sim capacity, when people start crashing because they can't stay connected. It's basically *impossible* to do anything at that point other than stand still and pray you don't crash. |

So, it looks like from the email that Treet TV sponsored this fashion show, that's why they get the free advert? (I have a different kind of tv inworld, and like it just fine, but guess you can only see this type of sponsored event if you have a Treet.)

The forums are giving me an error message when I try to post using quoted material, so I will try this again and just say I agree with Wynochee LeShelle.
And I don't even like fashion shows....which irked me doubly that LL takes it upon themselves to stick that in my email box. ![]() |
