I was trying to get back home and thought I was hitting Control Shift H like I always do, but must have hit some other combination of keys to get this message:
[12:55] Request for special powers failed. This request has been logged.
What does this mean? We can have special powers now? Neat!
Has anyone else seen this before?

It means you can't have special powers and your desire for them has gone on your permanent record.

Many questions like this can be answered efficiently by searching for part or all of the message text in Google, Bing, etc.
Searching Google using
Request for special powers failed
without even putting it in quotes results in the first link going to the Second Life Wiki explaining about God mode.
Control Shift G is the magical keystroke, I believe.

First link for me takes me to the worrying story that Niger's President Mamadou Tandja has announced he is assuming emergency powers after a failed bid to amend the constitution to allow him to run for a third term....

There's, uh, probably a lot of things you didn't know about lindens. Another, another interesting, uh, lindenism, uh, there are only three jobs available to a linden. The first is making shoes at night while, you know, while the old cobbler sleeps. You can bake cookies in a tree. But the third job, some call it, uh, "the show" or "the big dance," it's the profession that every linden aspires to.

Yes, comic Batman has changed a lot in recent years. Movie/tv Batman too (he once had a pot belly and a brightly dressed sidekick.)
Andrew Vachss had a version of Batman in a graphic novel that was interesting.

From: Osprey Therian We all have special powers, we just don't have *those* special powers. I found my special purpose!! I found my special purpose!!1 Oh.. Special powers.. Never mind.. The god mode stuff is really quite fun-looking. Do a ctrl-alt-d if you don't have an Advanced menu. Enable Advanced->Show Admin Options to poke around at all the neat tricks Lindens get to do..

Control Shift G is the magical keystroke, I believe. This response baffles me. How dare someone come into the LL forums with a problem with the software or question about SL? Really, was this completely necessary?

Suezanne's post was actually extremely helpful, not sarcastic at all.
If you note, she both a) shows the results given by her Google search, answering the OP's specific question, and b) demonstrates a method by which the OP and others can find answers to similar questions in the future.
Bravo.

I know google is my friend, but I figured someone in here might answer the question. And they did.

View admin options does not actualy show you the highest level of god mode.
Not all lindens have equal powers. Types of powers are arranged into "levels". View admin options simulates god mode level 200.
Above that is level 250. The only additional ability with this is that all objects and land and anything else regard you as there owner, with automatic full permissions regardless of the objects settings. Avatars and there attachments also count as objects, you can move peoples avatars with the edit menu, and delete/take copy/etc there attachments right off of them. Basicly pretty much everything belongs to you.
