I seem to recall many moons ago there use to be an option to disable the movement of your avatar when building and I don't seem to be able to find it anymore more. Wondering if anyone else remembers this or knows where it has gone. I think the option actually said something along the lines of "Don't show my color effects" or something like that. As it also stopped drawing the colored dotted line to the object you were building/editing.

you can disable your particle effects for yourself..
but not for others. and for as long as i've been playing SL there's never been an option to "don't show my colour effects". |

I voted. The farking selection highlights bother the crap out of me when I have to magnify on a tiny prim. And they get the way when you're trying to do a fine line alignment on two prims.
Actually, if I don't want my avatar to move, I sit on a prim. Faster and if I do need to move the avatar, I can yank her around via the prim. It's also a great thing when you're working in a public sandbox. And the selection beam? I stopped trying to turn that off when I realized others could still see it. _____________________

I know they hide the junction when the object is just selected; but when you "grab" one of the movement arrows, the selection highlight disappears while you're moving the object and I don't have problems lining things up. _____________________

Hi, Lesheran.
Welcome to resident answers. And why would you need a tutorial just to uncheck a single option? ![]() There was more than just this one option in the tutorial, Kitty. It had several tips on helpful tweaks for building. And ... in case you would like to see all this in world, Torley has an island with most of his video tutorials around for viewing. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Here You can get a slurl from that page to his island. Or ... here is a list of his video tips of the week: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Video_Tutorials/TotW Have fun, Lesheran. And come back any time you have a question. _____________________

Do they? I know they hide the junction when the object is just selected; but when you "grab" one of the movement arrows, the selection highlight disappears while you're moving the object and I don't have problems lining things up. Yes, but sometimes, I use the build tab's number system to do a wee bit at a time. It doesn't go away then and if I'm zoomed in (as with the tiny prims) those lines really become a pain. I admit, because of the selection highlight, I rarely use the numbers unless I'm simply doing the math and setting them precisely. _____________________
