Update of MAP

Its very difficult to get information abou the SL Map.. Does anyone know how often it is updated? Is it on a schedule? Does all of SL update at the same time? Thanks

I don't know how often officially that satellite flys over and takes snapshots but montly might be a good guess.

The map has had problems for over a year now if you zoom back a notch or so. The close up pictures seem more-of-less accurate but the less zoomed in ones are sometimes months out of date.

I think I read in Zero's blog that generating the map was one of the more expensive things that a sim needs to do. Each sim generates it's own map and because these are blade servers without any real ghaphics hardware, it needs to generate it in software.
