I have access to Adobe Premiere and while it appears to be fantastic for video editing and rendering, I'd like to know what exactly I need the setting to be to stream video in Second Life.
I have a free video conversion application as well and encoded a clip to MOV but when I uploaded it to my web server it failed to stream - it downloaded fully then started playing. Other clips I have (but haven't encoded myself) play almost immediately as they download.
Since I really like the capabilities of Premiere I'd like to know specifically what settings to use for that particular application to render videos to QT MOV for SL.
Many thanks!

I have QT Pro and yeah, I noticed the Fast Start setting. Doesn't seem to be present in Premiere...
I might need to just use QT Pro.

It's possible that someone that frequents the Machinima forum might know, or perhaps the Technical forum.
There is at least some chance that some people read some forums other than this one and don't read this forum much.

I just use MPEG. Works every time on everyone's machines. movs, qts and mp4s are spotty, sometimes they work sometimes not, sometimes on some machines but not others. Good old trusty mpeg.

Good old trusty mpeg. MPEG1, MPEG2 or MPEG4? LOL... I read where it says to do MPEG4 so that's what I'm trying now. I hope it works as I just paid someone $350 to build a really extraordinary script in SL for me. The script is finished and does precisely what I needed, but now it's up to me to try and figure out how to get the proper video encoding down.

Oh WOW... Someone in-world just told me of a program called SUPER. It's completely free and encodes every format known (just about). I downloaded it and used the mov setting and encoded to MPEG4 and uploaded a 3 minute clip I encoded and it streams flawlessly. Best thing is, SUPER appears to also recognize every format under the sun as well so, unlike my bad experiences with QT Pro ignoring or crashing when trying to encode certain video formats, SUPER jumps right in there and encodes them all. Nice. http://www.erightsoft.info/GetFile.php?SUPERsetup.exe <-- link to the actual file. A bit over 26 megs. And... http://www.erightsoft.net/SUPER.html <-- the full feature list, everything you ever wanted to know about it. I'm definitely impressed. And no, this isn't a plug. besides, the application is free, but I'm just excited since I discovered it and see that it suits my needs perfectly.
