I really want to add pictures to my post? what are requirements of them? size? format? I am desperate here......

Hi Elyse,

I post pictures by hosting them on a free site (I use photobucket). Then, I can use the image tags and insert the picture directly in the post.

To use the image tags press the little button on the top left of the reply window. It is the square with the little mountain and sun on the far left. if you click it, you can insert the url of the photo location. If you use photobucket you can copy the address already formatted wth image tags, and just paste in your reply/post.

http://photobucket.com/

**edit to add. When it comes to size, it is good form when posting images this way to resize them so that they display well. A width of no more than 600 pixels seems to work pretty well for this. Less is better, if your image can be seen at that size.

Hit the quote button of this post. You will see the IMG tags around the file's address

That should help.

I find images are unreliable. Occasionally the picture will appear, other times a link to the pic appears and if I'm really unlucky I get the link printed twice, which is useless.

You can also open a flickr account if you first open a yahoo account. You can use your SL name to open the email, then your privacy and that of your Photobucketses are preserved. :)

I have great luck with photobucket, I have had a free account there for about 3 years, and posted on a variety of forums, never had a problem, do it as instructed previously

Photobucket is good but a lot of people forget and post a link to their entire album. Potential embarrassment and lack of privacy loiter there.

ETA: the same principle of opening an account *just* for your SL applies there also though - which would fix that potential problem.

And, I guess, if people forget to make certain pix private or friends-only, the same thing could happen in flickr, I dunno. I just found it handy and it is another possible option for anyone reading.

It's nice to have an email addy for your user name, and if you have one at yahoo, you already *have* a flickr too. On the downside, very slow uploads, at least for me. I haven't downloaded their thingy. I hate downloading non essential thingies.

I like flickr. You can get a free account. It's limited from the full account but it's an easy upload, and you can also set it up to post from SLbuzz to Flickr via snapshot.

How to do this?

Oh yes, Nim has her own account & her own gmail. Great advice.

Flickr is great advice too. Tons of people absolutely love it. I think either are really good options.

I've seen that happen with someone's photobucket account, they were pretty embarrased. You can mark your album private but people don't for some reason. Mine isn't private cause I don't use it for any personal pics, and I keep it pretty well cleaned out, tho my partner asked me the other day what the bowl of green stuff was (mint jelly from a previous post lol)

I use imageshack. You don't really have to sign up for anything. There's no privacy but if it's just for posting on a forum then it's fine right?

You just have to figure out the imageshack correct link to paste into the thread.

Free Flickr only displays the 200 most recent pictures. Free Photobucket is not so limited in that respect.

There's Picasa web albums for picture storage and sharing - does that work to post pictures here?

There's also Snapzilla, although I think the feature that it used to have that produced a link to a resized version of the an image designed to fit right in these forums has been changed to fit the SLUniverse forums better.

ImageShack has some nice Firefox extensions, to do things like take screenshots of web pages, and upload images from web pages, and such stuff as that.

The OP might have been talking about using the attachment feature in the forums that allow attachments. The attachment feature is not very reliable, according to reports, so you might as well just follow some of the advice in the preceding posts.

For anyone who tried Photobucket a while back and found it lacking in features, it now has multiple upload methods, batched uploads with efficient titling and labeling, cropping, resizing, etc.

Flickr and Photobucket paid versions are both about 25 bucks a year, I believe, which isn't too bad.
