I got this message."Quicktime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately,it is not available on the Quicktime server." How can I fix this?

Where did the error manifest itself? Is it when you're in one particular parcel or is it all the time?

That is QuickTime's way of saying that it doesn't have a codec for the stream that is being played. It can mean that you aren't using the newest version and might need to upgrade, or it can mean that the stream is using a format that doesn't ship with QT (so you would have to find out the format and get an appropriate plugin to see it), or it can mean that whoever put the stream up picked something that's going to be incompatible no matter what you do.

(If you are up to date, a reinstall might not hurt.)

QFT, at least on Windows. I've had to reinstall QuickTime more often than I've had to clear cache in SL. Speaking of which, sometimes clearing *QuickTime*'s cache will get it to regain sanity without having to reinstall. The option is buried somewhere in the QuickTime controls.

Thanks for the tip, Qie. I'm gonna have to give that a whirl. Been experiencing a lot of QT/Windows headaches lately.

I am having this same problem myself. I think I will try reinstalling it. Hope it works
