My friend and i speak with voice, but i hear my voice coming back to me, with a delay which very offputting, he doesnt hear his voice.
For some reason, his mic is picking up my voice in his earphones.
Has anyone got a fix for this problem?
Thanks

Maybe he has the sound turned up way too much and the sound is bleeding to his Microphone.
ISnt there a push to talk option? Does your voice get transmitted when he isnt pushing that button?

There maybe 2 causes. 1) Signal to Noise ratio - this is where the incoming signal (your voice) is out of sync with the noise levels caused by the amplification. He can make adjustments to that by selecting your name in the Active Speakers list and raising the volume slider, at the same time tuning down his earphone volume to compensate. Dust buildup on the sound board/chip can cause mirgration of signals across input and output tracks. 2) Skull Resonance - The human skull being a hollow chamber of bone can cause resoneance being amplified by the ear bones to echo out of the mouth (don't laugh it's true). Ever wondered why when you record your own voice it sounds different to what you 'hear' yourself speaking? Thats due to the resonance of the tones being altered within the skull blending with the vibrations of your voice box, reaching the ear a milisecond or so later, altering the tonal range slightly. Your friend might want to invest in a microphone that has a OmniDirection, that a noice cancelling feature that removes background sounds, and also move his own microphone away from his mouth a bit.

From: AWM Mars 2) Skull Resonance - The human skull being a hollow chamber of bone ...
It's not entirely hollow. Or shouldn't be, anyway.

From: Warda Kawabata It's not entirely hollow. Or shouldn't be, anyway. Lets just say.. some are more hollow that others LOL.... well the desity of bone to brain tissue is far greater and therefore a better resonating chamber.. I didn't want to be rude and suggest to the OP .. your friend may have less sound deadening material in their skull.. I try and be a bit more tactful LOL..

I've been guilty of the same faux pas myself - it happens when I just allow my computer to act as mic and speakers, instead of using a headset. (headsets cause my skull to ache after a bit)
If that's the case, perhaps just putting on earphones will help - at least it will help reduce the volume of the echo.

From: AWM Mars (don't laugh it's true) Too late!!! ..... /me makes memo to self: must get a windscreen wiper motor from the scrappies for the monitor screen! Added: I'd wondered if Imogen's correspondent was using speakers too Joseph.
