I thought I had seen something awhile back about IMing someone in-world while you are not...but I did not find it in search... Any ideas? And other options? Because the one I recall I think you had to have been in-world i order to set up originally...

Yes - I believe I have done that - but I referred to actually originating the IM from Outside.

There's been some talk of SLeek, but I've never tried it myself. http://code.google.com/p/sleek/

Amaranthim, I have my IM's emailed to me when I am not inworld. This way I am able to use my regular email client and reply. They get my reply, even tho I am not inworld. Works out pretty well, especially if one of my customers is having problems. While inworld > Preferences > Communication > Send IM to email(log in to change) Put in the desired email address and from then on, while you are offworld, you will get and be able to REPLY to the IM's. WARNING!!!! Always use REPLY to send the email. This filters out your RL email address.

Thanks Ann! That worked perfectly1 And it even downloaded onto a thumb drive - so nothing on machine to clean up. Perfect - thanks so much.

If you get your IMs sent to your e-mail, you can reply to people in-world that way...but you have a 5-day time limit on the last IM you receive, so if you haven't replied within 5 days, your message won't get to the user. And bear in mind that there is a character limit you can send too...
