Ok this is cureous to me since about a mouth i have seen lots of grandfathered tier sims for sale. Befor that i have not i am wandering why this is the case.
It almost looks like grandfathering will end and the owner of those sims know and want a fast sale on them
I could not find any info on this but perhaps someone else did and could post it here?
Maybe i just imagine this or not i am not sure but i am wandering now if i should buy one or not
hugss chantal

All good things come to a end. Just put in a ticket about a specific sim for sale that is grandfathered and ask how long can you rely upon the tier staying at that level. Then hold your breath. .

Read up on the upcoming changes on Adult Content use in SL. Soon Mature Land will be unusable for adult-oriented businesses, and restricted for other adult activity. Sim Owners who have Adult Content, such as a strip club or a mall that sells prim genitals, or an escort service, will be forced to rate theis sim as "Adult", locking out roughly half the accounts in SL that have neither payment info or Aristotle adult age check approval. It will be impossible to run a store selling mixed ratings of goods, such as a store that mostly sells clothes but also sells slave collars. Or else they will have to kick out any Adult Businesses, to retain a Mature rating.
So a lot of people are probably looking down the road and saying, "My business model won't work with those changes. I won't make my sim payments. Better shut down and sell off, while people are still willing to buy".
Is it premature to sell now? Maybe. Depends a lot on your business model.

What does grandfathered mean, is it like handed down from friend to friend or something?

From: Ian Nider What does grandfathered mean, is it like handed down from friend to friend or something? It means in a legal sense it's per-change of the rules/laws. A good example would be a person owning say an original 19rd magazine for a pistol, when the ban on such went into effect all the ones currently out there for sale were grandfathered and allowed to be sold. But no more could be made in the US, or sold once current stocks were depleted.

Actually I think its the announcement of the class 6 servers.
Alot of those grandfathered sims are on class 4s. When the 6s hit I am betting there is going to be a forced upgrade which will void the grandfathering.

From: Ian Nider What does grandfathered mean, is it like handed down from friend to friend or something? In this case, grandfathered sim are sims that are at the old monthly fee of $195/month instead of $295/month. Any remaining class 4 sims and a few class 5 sims are at this rate, and generally the resale value on them is much higher than sims at the $295/month rate.

That would be a great theory if it was only class 4 sims that were being offered. It's also the class 5s. I've been noticing this for a while too, and it's frightening. This almost exactly mirrors the way many estates that depended on the openspace sims sold out before the openspace price increase was announced. At a bare minimum, I expect grandfathered pricing to go away by the end of the year.

Right, thanks, 100 USA dollars is a heap of money, hope they survive.
