Problem with sliding doors

Hi, SL newbie here.
I recently rented a small apartment, with two sets of sliding doors, however, they seem to have stopped working. When they appear to be as they normally would when open, when I click them, they move further apart from each other, I click again, they "Close" to the usually open position. I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Any technical info needed, I will TRY to provide, however, my knowledge of SL is currently limited to what you can fit in a matchbox.

Thanks!

Talk to your landlord.

Sounds like a bug in the script or some kind of SL glitch that left them in an unexpected state.

Normally the solution would be to simply edit/drag the doors to the right spot and/or reset the scripts inside them (depending on how the doors were scripted), but since you're renting you most likely don't "own" the doors and you won't be able to make any changes like that yourself. A call to the landlord might be in order :(

edit: Yeah, what Cristalle said

Sounds like an issue for your landlord, it sounds as if the doors were in the open position and held a value of closed and now when you click open they open further.

Doors are a pain, trust me, you need to be really careful about what value is held against a variable and then how it responds to touch commands.

Most likely, your landlord will need to manually reposition the doors to a closed position and then reset the scripts in the doors.

One explanation for what you are seeing is that your sim crashed while the door was in the open position. Then when the sim came back up, the scripts reset and now think the doors are closed. This used to happen more frequently when we were subject to self-replicating grief attacks; it doesn't happen so much any more. But it still happens.

Whatever the cause, the only cure is to physically move the doors back to the proper closed position. Since the doors move when you touch them, it is probably not necessary to reset the scripts, and in fact, resetting the scripts may cause other problems.

some sliding door scripts .. especially the linked lockable one got seriously fssked up with the last server update..
manually repositioning them and then resetting the script seems to have fixed for me.

Depends on the script, and weather on reset or initilization it attempts to record any position information. I know the NDE door scripts for sliding doors flat-out required a script reset if they got moved, or else attempting to use them would make them pop right out of their frames. And the sliding door scripts that I have used all need that script reset to accurately record the initial closed position and orientation.

Some scripts will mess up if interrupted in a state other than their default starting state. With sliding doors, this tends to be very apparent, as most of them work by applying an offset to current position. So taking them into inventory or resetting their scripts while open can make them think the open position is the default closed coordinates.
