Ok, i don't think I started a thread in a while lol.

I was just on SLexchange, and noticed this:

http://www.secondinventory.com/files/details.php

A second inventory? Now I think I could understand how it would work (very basically....i think  )with textures and scripts, but I didn't think there was anyway to save your objects to you hard drive. I thought it was purely on the LL asshat servers? Would this actually work do you think?
Not that I'd buy it personally lol, I don't build or create enough to justify it, but it would be interesting to know if it worked.

Comments?

I can't answer your question, but I went to the site and wow! 29£ I sure hope it works. I would think builders and content creators would have alts with full perm on all their stuff. I suppose being able to save it on to your hard drive could be worth it though, with all of the SL borkiness and missing scripts, etc.

And I found this amusing,
"Second Inventory works fine on Mac trough Bootcamp".

It's just an expensive copybot/exporter with alleged restrictions to respect the permissions system.

If you're honest you might as well use a free opengrid exporter and simply refrain from copying things you don't own.
If you're dishonest it's of no use to you either.

I'm not sure what their target audience is supposed to be.

(A lot depends on their definition of "if you are the original creator of the content" as well. If they only look at the creator of the root prim it could recreate anything you own that's mod as full-permission)

With the way the asset system works, simply dropping a copy of the same asset on your alt wouldn't help really. Instead of one reference to the asset you now have two, but if the asset goes missing anyway, you still end up with nothing.
