NOTECARDS Sending and Receiving

In the thread "Store vendor took my money twice " Notecards are mentioned.'now I'm aware of these when I buy an item and a notecard gives me information or instructions.
But my question is the use of them in this post to send messages to another person.
How do I do it?
More importantly how do I know I have got one from someone?
(My Groups send me blue messages at top right but guess that different.)
I'm hoping no one sent one and I missed it and did not reply.

You can make a note card that says anything you want it to say then you can give the note card to anyone you want to read it. Drag the note card from your inventory onto their profile.
They will then get the option to accept the note card or not. If they accept it you should be notified and it will open for them to read.

Go to inventory, select create then select "New Note", give it a name for referencing, type your message in the notecard and save. If you cannot find or you lose it just open ther File "Notecards" it will be at the top of the list.
To send, you can either drag it from inventory onto the person or persons profile.

The system is not full proof, but if someone sends you a notecard you will receive a blue drop menu stating that xyz person has sent you notecard abc, then you can click ignore,save or discard. Saving will save the notecard to your notecard file in inventory.
If a group sends you a group notice and there is an attachment then selecting "Open Attachment" from the Group notice will then save that attachment, if its a notecard it goes to notecard file if its a landmark it goes to landmark file and so on.

Sending a Notecard 'en masse'... is it possible?
I've read the posts on sending Notecards and I can do this, that's not a problem for me. I'd like to know how do I send a Notecard to my friends 'en masse'? I'm not talking about sending it via a group here either. I mean sending one out to friends on my list. Selecting more than one person and sending the same Notecard at the same time, rather than individually. I know how to group chat and it would be nice to do this for Notecards too but I can't see how. As you have to pull up a profile to send a Notecard does this in fact mean that you can't do it then?
Would be nice to know how, if it is at all possible to do this.

No, not with the basic SL tools. There may be scripts that can do it, but I don't know enough about the topic one way or the other to say for sure.

Thanks for that Ann at least I know now, and I searched on SLExchange too and I can't see anything that will do this on there. So it would seem that the only way you can do this then is via a group setting, and if people are in different groups or not in any groups you are in then it can't be done and short of making a group and having everyone in that group you're stuffed... lol

I am thinking there must be a way to send to multiple people at the same time, via scripts.

being that the subscribe o matic is able to send out notecards or objects to all those who subscribe

the only thing is that you would prolly need (most likely) their uuid so that the script would know who to send it to

if I knew how to script I would try to make something to do this, but as it stands I know enough about scripting to either rip one apart and tweak to meet my needs, or to totally break a script beyond all recognition


as for the sending a notecard, larrie mentioned that it will be at the top of the notecard folder, this is only true if you sort your inventory via date, and not alphabetically
