Mysterious new feature

The feature isn't all that mysterious, but how it first appeared is. The new feature: Friends show up as yellow on the minimap.

The mystery:
Very late last night, long after the rolling restarts were cancelled and all regions supposedly rolled back to the previous version, I restarted my sim. After the restart, friends showed as yellow on the minimap, others still in green. Before the restart, everyone was in green.

Do sim owners have to restart their own sims when LL does an update? If not, why did this feature not show up earlier? If they rolled everything back to Tuesday's version, why did it show up at all?

Whew... FRIENDS show up as yellow... I was seriously worried.

To me, yellow on a map means 'for sale'...

I didn't check the normal map, just the minimap. I was not able to set a price to sell my friends, but make an offer and I'll see what I can do.

Argos, I remember them talking about it on some sort of blog post a while back, and I wondered why I had never seen it. I think it was around the same time that they changed the whole "avatar above" and "Avatar below" symbols.

So maybe there was some other component that they needed to get out there and it only started working with this latest update or something.

Users with 1.18.4 viewers will see friend glyphs in a different color in the minimap
---

It's buggy at best though, friends will show yellow at one point then green again later on and back the other way.

Were you seeing it before yesterday? The friends that I talked to last night and I had never seen it happen before I did the sim restart.

And the other question I really hoped to get answered, are the private sim owners responsible for restarting their own, or is the rolling restart supposed to take care of it?

It is suposed to take care of it, that is why, to the best of my kowledge, you cant postpone some restarts.

That's pretty cool. I'll be looking for that.

I'd be happy if they just showed up on my friends list, though, in any color.

I've been seeing this along with my friends for about a week, depending on what sim we are on, it changes from either yellow dots or green dots.
Could it also have anything to do with the sim you are on at the time, perhaps they havent implemented it throughout the whole grid yet?
