After installing the latest Beta client, when I click on an SL URL via:
http://slurl.com/
it automatically opens the Beta viewer even though I also
have the current Release client also installed.
I've seen this before after installing the First Look Viewer
The problem is simply that whatever the last version of Second Life
installed, be it First Look, the Release, or Beta client it will change
this registry key in Windows:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\secondlife\shell\open\command
After installing the Beta, the key becomes this:
"C:\Program Files\SecondLifeBetaHavok\SecondLifeBetaHavok.exe" --aditi -helperuri http://preview-aditi.secondlife.com/helpers/ -settings settings_betahavok.xml -channel "Second Life Beta Havok" -set SystemLanguage en-us -url "%1"
By changing that to simply:
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -set SystemLanguage en-us -url "%1"
Then it will open the Release client when clicking on SL URLs or entering
a protocol call in a browser like:
secondlife://Lasiocampa/154/187/30
Furthermore, SL URLs are reported as a vulnerability in the LL Blogs...but look
at what Phoenix Linden says in this blog entry:
"Run the ‘regedit’ program by clicking on the Start menu, clicking on ‘Run…’, entering regedit in the ‘Open:’ combo-box, and finally clicking ‘OK’. Find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTsecondlifeshellopencommand in the registry editor."

You'll never find that string in the Registry with a search!
Good grief...!

Well just thought I'd pass this along...fwiw...
