I am so embarrassed

I attended a launch party for a new SL magazine on Saturday. I made a cute dress to wear, went out and spent L's on new shoes hair and skin to try to look my best. With the dress was a shoulder attachment, sort of a corsage. I had purchased the full perm flower from a well known sculpt designer, made my 'corsage', colored it to match, etc.

Today, I decided to box the dress up for sale. As usual, I try it all on again to make sure all is ok before I do. I usually run with 'sun and moon only', but I had just been working on something with gems and had 'local lights' on as well, to make sure it wasn't nuclear or something. Anyhoo...

on the left is the way my lovely corsage looked to me at the party. On the right is how it looked to anyone who had 'local lights' turned on. And the farther away you get, the worse it looks.

I am so embarrassed...I will be lucky if I don't get fugged on this one :(

I have picked the flower to shreds...in no part of it is 'glow' or even 'full bright' on. There is no script...what the hell is it that is causing me to light up like a neon sign?

edit: before you send me to the creator, they (according to their profile) are offline for the month.

Since you now have local lights on, perhaps one of the prims in the flower is shedding light. Check the "features" tab of each prim to see if it's a light source.

Ghosty's right - it's not "glow" or "full bright" that would be the problem - it's the "light" attribute of the prim. You'll have to check each prim in the flower separately. Make sure you don't have any other attachments on as well.

I did check 'light' too sorry forgot to put that one...but maybe it is something else. I seem to not be able to log in atm but as soon as I can I will make sure I'm not wearing anything nuclear. I never wear face lights, but maybe something is hiding somewhere.

There may be a prim with a transparent texture shedding light as well. From the photos you posted, I'd say the light is definitely coming from that flower.

and you would be right :) I picked apart the whole flower moving each prim as I inspected it and found the offending prim. Now if my credibility hasn't taken too much of a hit from that marvelously fuggable outfit, I can move on.

I will find this hilariously funny in a week or so.

Turn on Lights under the Advanced -> Rendering -> Info Displays menu. Like Highlight Transparent shades stuff red, this will shade any light source prims sorta green and draw a wireframe box to show how big the light is..

I've seen "lights on" with a number of jewelry items. A friend of mine had some earrings with that affliction. She had local lights off, so she never knew the sides of her head were saturated white and her face had the quality of charcoal. (T_T)

Even more recently, I assisted a new infohub project with their lag problem by pointing out that ALL of their signs and vendor boxes were set with lights on. The place flickered like a bad TV until they pulled the setting. (=_=)y

Last week, I had turned my particles all the way off because I was in a location with tons of them coming at me. Shortly after that, I put on a new pearl necklace and earrings set I had gotten, ran around the grid some more. The next day when I changed clothes I left on the jewelry, went on a hunt and then popped to the Hangout. Within a couple of minutes Brann said "omg, Lil is wearing bling". Those damn earrings had bling in them and I had not even noticed because I forgot to turn my particles back up a tad -- I usually keep them set really low specifically so I will know if I accidently put on anything with bling. Luckily the earrings were mod so a scrubber script took care of it for me, but I had been running around for over a day like that - the horror of it.

The reason is that the texture color is mostly white. So, when you start adding lights, the normally correct white becomes supersaturated, and any detail is lost.

To solve this problem, use the prim color settings and add in a bit of grey- something like 33% or so. This will offset the hyperwhite.

The other day a I was with a rl friend of my rl son. She had just left orientation island. She needed a lot of information of course but I was really stuck on the fact that one of the prims of her hair was glowing. It was like a bright orange light around part of her face and head. It was glaring to me but apparently neither she or my son could see it. He could understand what I was saying but it wasn't resonating with her because she hadn't quite realized that I was seeing things differently and she had so many other questions to ask that my attempts to get her to solve what to me was a problem never were successful. I had never seen anything like it before.
