Ok so I hoped on SL a few moments ago and while chatting with a friend via IM's something usual happened. My chat window spontaneously switched windows between the chat i was currently typing in and the contact list window. I couldn't get a full word typed out before it'd switch let alone a real message. So I relogged and it didn't fix it. I uninstalled and reinstalled, so now I have a new problem. It keeps making me download the same patch upon trying to log in. I haven't a clue as to what to do now. Anyone have any ideas?

ok so I figured out how to get the client to stop making me download the same patch, but i'm still getting my windows switching on me. So far I'm noticing it's not only the communicate windows switching but the search ones as well. Also the camera controls are doing something very similar, when focusing cam on an object it spontaneously moves the cam and the avatar. I'm tried various sims to see if it was a lag thing but it seems to happen anywhere. Is no one else having this issue???

It almost sounds like your keyboard or mouse is going bad. Are you experiencing any weirdness in other programs?

Also, when you uninstalled and reinstalled, did you go to the local settings folder and manually delete the SL settings folder (where the cache and all is stored?). If you haven't done that, you can just delete that folder without bothering to reinstall, and that usually clears up most weirdness.

New battery(ies) for the wireless mouse/keyboard?

Thats an interesting idea... but the keyboard and mouse are only a few months old, and no they aren't wireless. I have noticed that my left arrow key only works if I'm not moving forward at the same time I'm trying to move left. Though i can move forward and to the right at the same time.

Could be a flaky arrow key. I know from a recent how-to vid from Torley Linden that using Alt-LeftArrow or Alt-RightArrow lets you switch from tab to tab in the Communicate window (I miss the separate chat history window, but that's another subject). Might be a combination of the arrow and something else not working quite right on the keyboard.

If you have another keyboard, might try it for a bit.

Is everything else working properly on the computer? Can you type properly, using all the keystrokes you should be able to, in other programs?

It sounds like it might be in Alt lock mode, in which case you press and hold Alt and then press Caps Lock and release both.

Yes all other programs I use the keyboard for functions just normally. It's such a strange thing cause the windows will switch whether I'm typing or not. I could just have the search window open and not having my hands on any keys and watch the windows jump around. oh and ya I have cleared my cache.
