I clicked to accept a few "How To" guides at NCI locations, sometimes I get a notecard with a linked index of contents, but when I click any of the links it says "Insufficient permissions to view notecard.". So I am unable to view any of the Guide.

Am I doing something wrong?

I don't think you are doing anything wrong as far as I know. This happens to me sometimes too and usually it gets better with the next patch.

The only way I've found to fix it is to drag the notecard into your inventory and then open it.

Maybe with this new viewer it will be better because there was a memory problem that was slowing things down. I have also noticed that the Nicholaz viewer is generally less buggy.

Is it a notecard deeded to a group? Or from an object deeded to a group?

I had this last night, having just deeded a TV set ... put on the group tag and I could see the notecard.

I'll second what was said above. A current known bug prevents viewing some notecards that are embedded in other notecards, or somethimes which are inside objects. Dragging the notecard you want to read to your inventory will usually give you a local copy that you can read just fne.

Close- But We are looking at a Bug?

I've rebooted countless times since this first presented itself- and cleared cache many times too- specificaly a radio that I was once able to get the notecard from I no longer can- and settings cards in scripted objects that once I could look at and mod- no longer can- dragging a notecard from a deeded radio wont work, and to take it re rez and adjust the notecard then deed it again is a major pain

For notecards inside deeded objects, like your radio, try editing their properties and clicking Share with group and be sure you're wearing the proper group tag when trying to access it. That works for me, at least. Although with radio cards, I update the stations so frequently that I just keep the main notecard in my inventory, delete the old one inside my radio and drop in a new one whenever I want to update it.

I'm glad that you put soon in quotes.

So far it's been my experience the 'soon' in LLese could be when "Hell freezes over". LOL

I really think it's code for "We really don't know how to fix it, but we can't tell you that."

Draging the notecard into inventory then opening it is the recomended work around.

I already voted for this one, because the 'ebooks' I like reading in world are embedded note cards and not huds.

Yes, I read books in SL and these are the ones that are public domain to boot
