Two tiny inventory questions

1) How do I tell how many items are in my inventory? I have read something somewhere that seemed to indicate that it should show up in the upper area of the window, but I don't see anything like that.

2) Does each item in the inventory contribute to a "bloated inventory" problem, in other words if I have a folder and it contains shoes plus a landmark, does the landmark contribute to eventual inventory lag just as much as the shoes? I'm thinking in "file size" terms which may not apply to things like this.

For me, the item count shows only on the 'Recent Items' page (whether there are any 'Recent Items' or not, that's the only place I can see the count.

And YES, all that lil stuff counts as an item, you buy a clothing item and the folder has a texture, and a LM and maybe other lil stuff you don't need, each thing inside the folder counts, I get rid of all of it, I'm OCD about my inventory.

IT should be right in the little title bar on top of the inventory floater window. It should appear like "Inventory (3,562,886 items)". It will give a changin amount if inventory is in the middle of being refreshed from the server.

If it's missing, try typing something in the search box there.

It's really just the number of items, yes. The assets themselves are not in there, the inventory is only an index.

when you have the inventory open, type a letter into the search part, then you will see the inventory item count, if your in a good sim it will likely just appear or if you in lag it will count and add up slowly.

Oh! Am I incorrect about the items inside folders? Are you saying they do not count in the inventory total? I thought they did.

Oh how weird, after posting this question, now it works. Ain't that the way. Well I see I have too many items and I'm going to have to weed out things like landmarks. TY all for the help!

They do, Viktoria was talking about something completely different.

Items stuffed into prim boxes though only count as 1. I'd be shocked I am sure if it counted each and every prim inside those little 0.5 x 0.5 x 0.5 prim boxes

Yeah, they do. What i mean is that a huge complicated object won't really take up more inventory space than a plain cube, you're just getting a list of assets and not the assets themselves.

I wish I'd gotten that advice when I first joined, but now I routinely delete landmarks that come in packages. Half the time they're obsolete before I need them anyway.

If I need to go back to a store where I'd gotten something, I'll get the creator's profile and check the picks for the landmark.

Use the filter to only show landmarks (or other specific types of inventory items) and then select them and delete them.
