Hi I have no idea were to properly place this post in this mass of forums so forgive if it is in a non suitable place, i have spent 20 minutes deciding wich 1 to post in.

Straight to the point, whilst sailing down the mainland north of bear south of pooley, i hit a stupid banline jutting right out into the water, i was able to stand up and pull my ship back from the banline.

However about 30 seconds later down stream the usual sim boarder crash procedure, suddenly I am on board my vessel as it is sailing into the sky, no control, could not stand up, then suddenly i was at the bottom of the ocean, no control, could not stand up, no boat in sight.

I relogged and logged right back in were I left off, I have yet to find my boat wich was actually no copy and built by myself.

I spent an hour and 30 trawling the nearby mainland, nothing.

The incident took place between regions "cook" & "skiddaw"

The vessel did not get returned to me and I fear it may be out there somewere sat on a patch of land that has 0 autoreturn.

Is there any way a linden can track a lost object such as this? and even return it to my inventory ?

I have since rebuilt my boat and i now have designed & fitted a tracking device script wich will supply me with coordinates and region name to wich my vessel sits, controlled bya sinlg button HUD. no more lost boats for me.

However it would be nice if I could get back the original version of my no copy vessel.

Is this possible ? it is certainly floatng out there most likely on the land area, and I have no idea were, is it possible for lindens to track and return my vessel?

Thank you in advance for your responses.

Do you have any idea as to who owns the land that you intruded on? Land owners have the ability to sweep their territory and return items to the owners. I had to have my landlady do that to my apartment when I lost a very important body part, if you get my drift. It is not a big deal for them to do it. If you can find the owner's name, probably it would just take an IM to them asking if they would please help you out.

Of course, have you searched your inventory for the missing items? Just go into inventory and type part of the name of the missing object in the entry field at the top. Also, you can try clearing the cache (I can't remember where it is and am not at my SL browser now, but it's under a Network tab somewhere), just in case it got gnarled up in transit.

Finally, they landowner may have autoreturn set to a very large number so it may show up in a day or so.

Good luck, Jackie.

Did you search there with your mini map open? Cause on the mini map any object you own will be high lighted in blue greenish

I did check on the minimap through my 1 and half hour search it was open, to no avail.

And because it is such a densely built up group of reagions in that area with many small propertys spread around, it is practically impossible for me to find out a location that it could have landed, I do know the script itself would have allowed the vessel to travel over land as well as water.

So there is a good chance it has carried on in 1 direction and planted itself into a property somewere.

Since i last saw the vessel heading skyward there is a possibilty it is even in the sky, though i assumed this was justa lag and that in fact my vessel was not in the sky, I now am not sure either way.

I had some fun searching for it though haha, I guess it will turn up sometime when somebody trys to sit in there back yard and discovers a smaller version of noahs ark parked across there pool ^^

Did you look at <0,0> on the affected sims ???

Also has been a few things got dropped out of my Inventory last 2 days. Stuff went missing. I clear my cache today and relog and they came back. So maybe your boat got caught up in whatever has been affecting the asset server the last few days.

I don't understand how something you built yourself could be no-copy to you? Are you sure you don't still have a copy of it in your inventory? I thought the only way to lose permissions in this way was to deed it to a group....

Yeah this would be the right forum to post this I suppose. Can't think of anywhere else it could be...

I'm guessing you tried this already but it usually ends up somewhere in a straight line from where it was last heading. Try flying in the direction your boat was heading and just look at the ground or water and see if it has gotten stuck against some land that has banlines or has no object entry. Someone said check at coordinates 0,0 of the sims too and that's good advice. You might want to turn off land rendering and see if it's underneath somewhere there.

You migh have to chalk it up to a lesson learned and build a new boat. The next vehicle you make is always much better than the last. And make it copy!

Possibly a no-copy animation or other asset inside?

I've sometimes had luck hunting with an object-detecting script that runs a sensor for objects matching a known name.

Also, for no apparent reason, the altitude 256m seems to attract objects at sim crossings--not as effectively as 0,0,0, but sometimes stuff turns up there.

I built the vessel but put a no copy walkie talkie script inside it.

thas why it became no copy, lost the boat before realised i needed to back it up.
