Face shape doesn't completely alter with application of any shapes.

My avatar will not completely load a shape. Other people see the same result as I do.
No matter what shape I apply to my avatar, aspects of the face shape stay the same, the face of the shape will not fully load. It has done so at times, but always reverts back to a strange hybrid (ugly face). Applying skins does not affect it, just makes it look less bad.
I tried loading the default avatar through Character Test. This fixed it once, but it immediately reverted back as soon as I changed location and would not fix it again. I've tried clearing the cache, removing everything, etc, but nothing seems to work!
Thank you!

What aspects are getting messed up? One thing that can be surprising is that the shape of the eyebrows is controlled by the system hair/bald cap, not the shape or skin. there is also a "big jaw" bug that shows up occasionally (but usually on male shapes), that also can often be fixed by wearing a different system hair.

It seems to affect the shape of the cheekbones, mouth and eyes. It also affects the shape of the face from the profile.

Oh, also, if I click on Appearance, I see my face how it should look.
As soon as I close it (whether I change/save or not) it goes back to the ugly face.

Have you been zooming into your face using ctrl-0? Try pressing ctrl-9 to zoom out. Maybe check your graphics preferences and move the avatar detail slider to maximum.
Or maybe a complete reinstall? Delete all the cached files and all the SL application data too.

Yeah, everyone else sees it though.
And yep, I've done a complete reinstall and it didn't fix it.
It's the same when logged in from a different computer too.

From: Bellla Sorbet In case it's of any assistance: Here is the freakish ugly face And the less ugly face Oh that. Treasure does that occasionally too. Unlike yours though, hers is shortlived, usually tp'ing someplace will fix it. Also have tried item by item removal, and often found the 'culprit' item that when I wear it (usually a necklace or some hair) causes her to immediately go into 'ugly' mode. Unknown why certain pieces can do that. Also she seems to need her facelight on or some of that ugly mode will appear, the facelight immediately and always works to remove ugly, for her anyway.

are you sure it's not just the lighting you are in? my friend when his jaw was getting bigger you could really notice it.. i can barely notice anything but the lighting in those two pics being the difference.

Maybe that is why the facelight fixes it for me. Also have 'use local lighting' box checked in preferences.....

I was thinking the lighting as well
Bella if you drop by my store, there is a sign that you can click to get a notecard explaining how to change your environment lighting settings to show your avatar in the best light
kinda like a facelight without having to wear a facelight
also keep in mind, facelights will only show if you have local lighting turned on, AND only shows for anyone else with local lighting turned on
(the environment settings will only show for you, but saves you from having to use a facelight and affects your entire body, not just the face, AND will show you other avatars in their best light)
Also now with the ability to turn off attached light sources, many folks will not see facelights
good luck with whatever you decide
(and in my opinion, she doesn't look ugly, just different lighting and doesn't look completely rezzed)

Looks like a bit of Ruth to me, rather than a lighting issue, but do try the lighting suggestions just in case.

Thank you so much for all the advice.
I'll definitely try the lighting thing, hopefully that will eliminate some of the issue!
