If I abandon land, or actually, say while I was afk, someone in my house thought it'd be funny to abandon my land, is there any way to just get it back? or do I have to start all over again?

That would all depend. Is it Mainland? Submit a ticket or contact Linden Lab. I dont know if they will return it but it can't hurt to find out.
Estate Land? Talk to the Estate Owner and explain it was accidental. They may return it to you.
It's a bit hard to accidentally Abandon land. If you are deeding it to a group, be very careful on who you allow to have that ability.

People in your house have a rather odd sense of humor. For your sake, I hope it was a 512sm parcel of land that they so blythly threw away.

Ouch, I don't think I let that person in my home or anywhere near my computer nor be a friend to them any more. Sounds like something a passive aggressive, spoiled immature friend might do when they aren't be sole attention might do who was bored and thought they play a joke on you when you went to the bathroom or another room. I hope you yelled at them and kicked them out of your home. I suggest you call Lindens Lab and explain and hope they give it back to you, worse comes to worse you out of the money for the land or will have to pay for it via auctions.

you can contact LL and see if they'll give it back to you.
why would someone do that? why did you give them rights to your land so they could? be careful who you trust. heck, take that power back away from them (in the group settings) right away!

If you get it back, you will be very lucky.
You should never allow other household members access to your SL account. Do not check the "remember my password" box on the login screen; enter it every time. Password protect your screen saver, so that if you are away for a couple of minutes, a casual passerby can't just sit down at your computer and Mess Things Up.
These days, our computers are like our checkbooks or pocketbooks...we use them to handle our money. Automatic bill payments, bank statements, tax returns, online purchases...and buying and selling things in SL. This is YOUR money we're talking about. You should be just as careful with it when it's on your computer as when it is in your pocket.

Trey, When Lover said someone in the house, I took that to mean RL house. As in, while on a bio-break, their spouse who is upset over the amount of time spent in game rather than with them decides to abandon the land in an attempt to get at least some negative attention from Lover.

From: Claari Shepherd It's a bit hard to accidentally Abandon land. I've never clicked that button, but presumably there's a second window that comes up and asks you to confirm that Abandoning is what you really want to do. If there ISN'T such a second chance, then....I would think dark thoughts about LL, because of the size and prominence of the Abandon Land buttons---both on the About Land and the Edit Terrain windows. I mean, a lot of people must click them accidentally (especially the Edit Terrain one, which is right next to Subdivide).
