Hi all,

I know there are lots of mermaid places around, but many I am not familiar with. I need to take a photograph. I need a rock/rocks out in the ocean, preferably with some kind of wave/particle splash, that includes a poseball for a mermaid to lounge on it, or has a long enough auto-return that I can use a pose if I need to. Would like nothing but sky and water in the back ground. Ring a bell with anyone? The only place I found, which was ALMOST perfect, has a pose that puts me halfway into the rock, and the land is only set for a one minute autoreturn.

Many thanks for your input

/me takes a deep breath, and prepares to install WindLight on her computer.

FWIW, as long as you are sitting on it, it will not be returned.

2nd thought, this is not so easy. Hard to get a shot with just ocean in background and no extraneous pose balls etc....well, good luck and be sure to show us your pic!

If you don't find anything else that suits, let me know and I'll set something up for you in Mermaid Bay at the gardens....

Nice shots, Abby!

Princess, if Abby's spot doesn't do it for you, make your own...

1. Find a water sim where you can rez objects. It doesn't matter if there's other background.
2. Rez a rock
3. Rez a big white rectangle set to Full Bright. Place it behind the rock as a backdrop.
4. Pose on the rock. Use an AO ground sit pose, or a modeling pose from your inventory (just open it and Play in World). Some mermaid tails have an AO that goes with them and includes a ground sit for just what you want to do. See "Mertopia".
5. Take snapshot and save it to disk.
6. Open image in Photoshop and insert appropriate background.
7. Upload image back to SL to amaze your friends.

I own ocean land. I can do this myself, and should have already. It's in the plans. But I'm stressing out because the photograph is for submission to a gallery, and I have deadline of March 7th looming! And I'm tryinng to master WindLight for this, so that is a nightmare too, since I know very little (i.e. nothing!) about how to play with the sky, etc. So instead of making myself crazy trying for the perfect build, I was hoping to find one in world. Just a simple mernaid pose on a rock out in the ocean.

So if anyone knows of a place like ths that already exists, please let me know.

Abby - your pictures are great. I will definitely go check it out!

Thanks,

Princess, you've got plenty of time to play with this...five whole days. Relax!

To my previous tip, I'll add:

Set up your Windlight sky and water to give the look you want. Take a picture of the empty sea. Use this image for your Photoshop background. If you take note of which way you are facing when you take it, and the local time/sun angle, you can match lighting conditions when you take the Mermaid on the Rocks part of the shot.

Check out the sim named Blake. It's a full sim dedicated to mermaids that may have what you need.

Have a look at Natalia's blog at www.mermaiddiaries.com
In the sports and activities section, there is a 'mermaid section.
Natalia is a mermaid in SL, and is always finding great places that make me start to wish i was a mermaid and not a kitty lol.

http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/12/day-69-under-sea.html

Also, there is a list of great mermaid spots in this list,

http://www.mermaiddiaries.com/2006/11/siteseeing-and-exploring.html

just scroll past the gardens and there is a mermaid section - some of them are wonderful!

Hope it helps :D

"Mermaid on the Rocks" is New York City's most underrated drink. :p

Sorry, that's just what I thought when I read the thread title.

Ok, I'm revealing my ignorance here. Why would I take a picture of the background for Photoshop, and then take the same exact picture again with the mermaid part in it, presumably to make her a transparency to place over the Photoshop background? Why can't I just take one picuture, with the sky and water the way I want them, and the mermaid in the appropriate position?

Please clarify - I'm just learning Photoshop.

Check out Bonny Cove 46, 37, 21. It's a big area with pirate ships, underwater scenery and mermaid stuff.
