This is very weird. It had been awhile since I'd needed to do any terraforming, but I've recently started a couple of new builds where I'll need to do it again. And I've noticed that the land editor seems to be de-volving in its feature set! For one thing, I don't see the "freehand" terraforming tool anymore - it looks like you must select a piece of land now and can only apply your changes to the selection, which often looks goofy and unnatural because selections can only be square in shape. Also, although the brush size selection dropdown is still there, it's grayed out and I'm unable to change my brush size!
Is it just me or has anyone else noticed this? I'm very puzzled... if this has been discussed here before, I apologize but I haven't seen anything about it.

Brush size can be chosen for the other operations, not the "Select Land" choice. So either one selects the land first, then the operation, then Apply to selection; or, you select the operation first, the tool size, and then stroke it across the land to be terraformed.
I don't think there's been a change.

Nope. It works fine in the Release client, in the pre-release version that is open for experimenting with, and in the old pre-Voice version.
You have to select one of the action options, like 'lower land', from the radio buttons on the left, the you can select a small, medium or large brush and do freehand land sculpting.

Oh, DUH. That was it - the "Select Land" button was selected and you can't access the brush selection or the freehand tool from there. It had been so long I'd forgotten how it worked. Thanks for smacking me upside the head!
