Alternative To Quicktime: Anyone Making The Plug-in Yet?

THe blog now says we no longer have to suffer trying to get Quicktime to work with VISTA just so we can view films within Second Life. But LL is leaving it to the residents to create a plug-in so other formats can be viewed in SL. Anyone taking on this project yet? I've had no problems with Vista and QT.
I'm quite interested to see how developers use all that plug in stuff to develop new media features as well.

I doubt anyone is making one already, it's just been announced.  It takes time to read the API, browse the examples, and formulate a plan. But I'm sure we will see a plethora of plugins soon. If I wasn't so busy, I'd be all over this. After reading that the API supports mouse events, I think the first thing I would do is pick up where LL left off, and make the web page display scrollable and link clickable. It still wouldn't be HTML on a prim, but it would be a lot more useful. |

I think the plug-in ability news was terribly exciting. It's beyond me to do, but I'll be interested to see what other people come up with.

of course there's always "quicktime alternative"  though I have no clue if it plays nice with vista)
