Not seeing my partner's new skin

Hi. This is my first post but I read the forum daily. I'm hoping someone can help me. Last night my partner and I went shopping to purchase him a new shape, skin, hair, the works. He firt purchased the skin and wore it. I was able to see the change. Then he purchased hair, which again, I was able to see. We then headed out to get the skin and he found one he liked, purchased it and put it on. At this point, from my end, he never changed. I was still seeing him in his old skin. On his side however, he saw the complete transformation. We even each took a photo of him and exchanged it so we could see what the other saw.

My question is....is this just a temp bug from the issues of last night? I cleared cache, relogged and nothing changed from what I was seeing. He also relogged, did a rebake and still nothing. When I logged off yesterday we were still seeing different version of him.

How do we correct this? Any suggestions? Is the problem him, or me?

Any advice would really be appreciated. We are both using the latest viewer.

Have you tried going to a different sim? Just an empty water sim would do.

If that doesn't work I would blame the the servers. Lots of problems lately.

Yes, we first tried at the store where he purchased the skin and then we went home and tried again. It still didnt solve the problem. I'm wondering with the issues that went on last night, if he goes back into his old skin and then starts over again with the shape, skin and hair if that wouldnt correct it. I know when my clothes seem to be frozen on me even though I have changed them, if I put the old back on and off again it seems to correct itself.

Try having him press ctrl-alt-D to bring up the advanced menu and have him go to advanced, character, character tests, test male. Once you see him change completely to the default male you can have him try his new skin again. Maybe have him save his shape settings before you do all that.

I was trying to take photos of a friend yesterday and was running into exactly the same problem. It helped to get him to rebake and go into Edit Appearance after each change (sometimes several times) but I think the servers were borked.

I have had the exact same thing happen before. After just a few minutes we just chalked it up to SL acting up and went on. It cleared up in a short amount of time. next day or day after at most, I am not sure since it did not make a big impression on me.

Getting a certian texture out of your cache can be a problem. Be sure and have him put on a different skin and rebake while you are there. He can grab one from the library is he needs one. Then, you move to a different sim. Hit the Clear cache button and relog. Once you come back in you can tp him to you. Now try the new skin again. You may have to wait 20 minutes or more so do not get in a hurry.

There are a lot of things in SL that make you go "hunh, that's odd." I usually just leave it at that and go on. If it is still there after a day or two, then I start looking for a fix.

I've found that most of the time, applying the skin *before* the shape seems to yield better results. Also changing a shape value by one number, on something like hand size or something non-critical, usually forces the update to take.

I find I can force a full rebake by putting on invisible underpants.
