Does anyone know why if your account has a zero L$ it gets to the point of being -1L$?

It's probably a group liability. One of the groups you're a member of has charged you part of their search listing fee (which is what group liabilities are for). Go to 'My Account' on the main SL site, and look at your Transactions History for the past few days. That will tell you which group it was.

Oh, how do you keep the group from charging for liabilities?

Unless you own the group (or are an officer in it, with the ability to change the settings), there's nothing you can do. The people charged are, if I remember rightly, chosen at random every week (although someone will correct me if I'm wrong). The only way to prevent yourself from being charged is to leave that group.

Well, that, or contact the group owners and have them uncheck the group accounting/liability option under group roles/abilities. They are probably unaware that their group is charging L$ of members.

It *used* to be that every week 30 random members were charged, though LL told me it was never that way.

Last summer thru the end of the year, the Forum group liabilities continued to accumulate until the system could actually charge every person with the role. Now, I can't quite tell what is happening because our liabilities do not seem to be increasing each week -- maybe they took it back to the weekly 'random' member charging.

Because it's set that way by default, and many group owners don't know it's happening.

the best thing to do, when you join a group, is check the role tab and see what the role(s) you are in have set in the accounting section.
Then you will know in advance if you will be charged or not, and can either choose to leave the group, or ask the owner (or someone else who has the ability) to change that setting.
(if they refuse, then your choice if you wish to stay or not)

but for real fun, be in the same group under two names when someone has it set up so that members share profits.... and then they make a land sale.... ah windfall.... (ok I gave it back, it was a friend after all)
